truffy, I suggest you move this to "Off Topic" - but hey, this is very entertaining. CHOO-CHOO !! you posted a picture !! or did you have an invisible hand to help you ??
grandma - you are SOOOO petite, so stop whining !! As long as they let persons like ME walk freely around in Paris, then you will have no problemo whatsoever (being about half my size.......)

:)Hi ouiparis, you've found us!!! ;Nice to see another friendly name. ;D ;D Welcome to "our Paris". I hope I will be seeing you on the "who's Who" Thread I had difficulty finding my way around at first ???but now I'm getting used to it. I view last 20 posts at the bottom of the home page first. My "training " isn't going too well at the moment as I have two new grandchildren due imminently and that is taking a lot of my attention. I have managed to walk these past few days but the French lessons are out the window. Once the new babies come safely I can concentrate on my next July trip. I did read Sarah Turnbulls "almost French" I didn't want to finish it as apart from everything else, she lives where I am staying in July so I felt as if I was THERE already. Now I am reading "talk to the Snail" which is hilarious. Anyway it's soo nice to see you, they are a friendly bunch here. Hope you will enjoy Denise Love from England

Denise,
You are making me feel so guilty. We are leaving in 4 weeks and I haven't done anything to get in shape. I guess I need to get with it!
I have read "Almost French" and really enjoyed her perspective on living in Paris.Have you reqd "Sixty Million Frenchmen Can't be Wrong"? It's another great book on all things French.
Have a good one!

Denise, we leave Paris the day you arrive we will be there from the 9th. We had a really good deal this year, £204 for four nights b+b, £59 each return on Eurostar. We get down to London on National express £20 return. Total for 2 £362 I have my countdown timer telling me it's 68 days, 5 hours, 45 minutes and 21 seconds away ........still not doing well with my diet (well I did but then I stopped and put it all back on again ), definately need to build up on the walking, haven't had time to polish up on my french (probably do this during the journey to Paris) BUT my suitcase is almost packed!

;DKatharine! you joined the same time as me, great to see you. I will keep in mind "sixty million Frenchmen can't be wrong" I have got "Marie Antionette" by Antonia Fraser but it's a bit thick to carry in my handbag. So I only read it at home, I'm one of these people who pull out a book at every opportunity. Standing in a queue, sitting in a cafe, between the adverts on TV etc. Andiandgaz. Sorry to miss you, you have indeed got a good deal. I've never fancied Eurostar myself, it just seem a bit too much travelling from "up north" You are just that bit nearer in Stoke on Trent, although the £20 National express isn't bad and you cut out the two hour wait at the airport. We always fly easyjet from Liverpool our next trip is costing £119 for the two flights and £25 car parking. If we catch the 7.55am flight we usually set off from our house at around 5.15am and we are at our accommodation around 12 midday to 1pm. So it's around 7/ 8 hours door to door. What are you putting in your suitcase? Denise Love from Bolton

Denise, I recently went on a small clothes shopping spree and acquired a mixture of some pretty T-shirt type tops in greys, whites and blacks with neck ties and stripes, 3 pairs of trousers, jeans/cords and a pair of city shorts. I just got my favorite boots heeled and purchased a new pair of ballet flats in fuschia. I am still looking for another pair in black and need to get a few accessories. Gaz has had some nice plain fashion shirts (in black and white) to complement my clothing, and a couple of pairs of new jeans. He just wants to get some new converse type bumpers to complete the look. He will also probably take his best dress trousers too. Yes I am very organised in that department! On the travel front, it does not really take us much longer than you via Eurostar, we leave home at 1-30am, get into London at 6-30am, get Eurostar at 8-30am and arrive in Paris around 11-30am. I would fly but Gaz is not so keen, infact we have not flown since 9-11. I do actually enjoy the Eurostar bit of the trip, we do it so often now that it just feels natural I guess.

:)Andi, My you ARE organized. As a couple you will look the bees knees in complimenting outfits. I am restraining myself in the clothes dept as I put on half a stone when I was recently incarcerated with Labarynthitis. I mostly had to sit still for about 3 weeks as my balance was affected. I will soon walk it off but if I buy clothes now they will be too loose by July. I bought some pretty ballet flats from Marks and Spencer, in black patent to go with a dress, they were "limited edition" but everyone was wearing those same M&S pumps last year in different colours. They are soo comfy, I've never had them off my feet. I don't know if they are supportive enough for Paris though. I bought them to take in my handbag to the races at Longchamp, so I could change out of my high heels on the metro and still look dressy. They are useful because they go with dressy trousers or jeans. Denise Love from Bolton

Denise, I would definately go for quite a few pairs of those shoes on that page. ;D To post the picture direct, go to the page, right click over it, "save picture as" to your computer then upload it to photobucket, then use the IMG code.

Good morning everyone! Denise, I am liking it here very much indeed. Becky, thanks for the warm welcome. Andiandgaz, thanks again for the photobucket info. I did end up setting up my own account. As far as training is concerned, I seem to yo-yo. I lose weight for a trip, don't gain anything during the actual trip because of all the walking, but when we get home, I sort of stop going to the gym, which (in my twisted logic) gives me license to eat whatever I want. I do intend to get back on the wagon very soon!
TGIF!
