Most people I know have difficulty seeing the digital monitor in sunlight. Often, as well it is hard to tell if an image is sharp by looking at the monitor. I recently purchased a Hood Loupe manufactured by Hoodman. On one end is a hard rubber hood (rectangular shaped) which fits on your digital 35mm screen with an adjustable magnifying glass and eyepiece on the other end. It solved the problems I had, I hope it will work as well for you. If you should purchase one, please give me some feedback on your experience.

Hi Randy,
I bought a digital camera just a few days before my recent Paris trip and I did have trouble seeing the screen in the sunlight - I'll certainly try the Hood Loupe and let you know how I like it.

Thanks Sandy for getting back to me on this. You might also check the specifications on your camera on the Internet or in the manual. Some camera manufacturers now make a hood that snaps on over the monitor. It folds shut when the camera is not in use and with one button pops open to reveal and shade the monitor. Randy

Thanks, Randy - I'll take a look at your suggestions first - I must admit, I haven't really read the manual yet. That would probably be a good idea. Also, I like the hood idea, I'll check with the camera shop to see if it is available for my camera.
