Yesterday, for at least a few hours around noon (forum time), Gitte, Chouchou and I were unable to connect to the forum . My message in French was "Internet Explorer ne peut pas afficher cette page web" . All other websites worked fine for me . When I could finally go through, I noticed that other people had written posts in the meantime, which means that the disruption had been selective (are you guys trying to kick out the non-Americans ?) . Also, my connection was very erratic and still was early this morning : I got this same error message very often when trying to enter a category or a thread . Posting messages was a real pain, several trials necessary, I soon decided to save everything I wrote on Word in order to avoid typing it all again when my attempt to send a message failed . To sum it up, most attempts at clicking anywhere got me kicked out of the forum . Nerve wrecking . Things seem to work fine now, but I still would like to know whether anyone else experienced the same problems and also whether anyone has an idea of what is wrong ... Also, Gitte, Chouchou and I already couldn't connect for several hours two weeks ago, but the message was then of the kind : "too many connections on the server" .

Anne, I couldn't get onto the forum yesterday afternoon either in New York, though, like you, I could go everywhere else.

I had the same problem yesterday here in FL. I also got that too many connections message one day last week.
Here I was blaming it on my new laptop!

It definetely not anyone connection or your computer. There were some problems yesterday with the ProBoards Blog systems that is hosting our blog and the forum. We have no control about that, the only thing Douglas can do is email the Proboard and report the problem. Yesterday a large number of bloggers already had report the problem, so we where one of many. Anyone location have nothing to do with it.
Hope the explication help a little. Douglas have been working to customize the chatroom, he is progressing well but there are still some adjustments to do, so do not be concern if it up and down or different for a while.

Thanks, Luc, for putting fears to rest. The blog is not on ProBoards, but the forum is. They've been having server problems (more than 100 different servers) since they issued the upgrade a couple of weeks ago. These things sometimes take a while to be resolved. The chat room uses different software and an entirely different bank of servers, and the chat provider's equipment must be integrated with the forum provider's equipment to function properly. I'm trying to post announcements whenever there's a change in procedure, so it's always best the check here or the General category for an announcement before getting too worried!
Thanks for your patience, everyone!

Thank you all for the clarifications . Yes, patience is all we need obviously . It is also so much easier to be patient when understanding what's going on and when trusting that problems will indeed eventually be solved .
