Thanks Sandra for the excellent website recommendation on digital cameras. I would highly recommend that people on Our Paris take a good look at it. In addition to the digital camera bodies, check out the lens section also.

www.NexTag.com/Digital-CamerasI use DSLR Nikon cameras - D 300 as my primary camera and a
D200 for back up.
With DSLR cameras, many people still believe that a certain lens
comes with the camera body they want to buy (not so, they are paired by the camera store for economic reasons).
First decide what type of photography you want to do and then
buy the appropriate lens for the type of photography that you
will be doing.
I use a Nikon 24-120mm zoom lens and a 18-200mm zoom lens
for almost all of my work.
A key feature in both my lenses is VR (vibration reduction).
You can shoot at slower shutter speeds with a steady platform.
VR is made for Paris with all the great low light interiors
(Notre Dame, L'Orangerie, Louvre, Pantheon, D'Orsay, etc.
Works wonders for night photography.
I would not buy a digital lens without VR
A brief note about my book -
THE FRENCH LANDSCAPE: IMAGES OF A SPECIAL LIGHT.
All of the digital scans are back, the book will be 80 pages
8 1/2 x 11 with one image on each page.
I talked to my publisher yesterday and he is almost as
excited about the book as I am.
It looks like it will be
available this fall. In the meantime my infrared website
has 15 of the images that will be included in the book.
