gracejoan - also remember, that you have but one hour from the time you chose, to enter the museum (like in the Orangerie).
You may stay as long as you like once you're in, but your ticket expires one hour after the entrance time printed on your ticket.
E.g. I chose Monday 21 April at 10:30 - which means that I must be in before 11:30, or else I will not be admitted.

I always make reservations at crowded places for the earliest times...get in and get out, trying to avoid the crowds as much as possible. We will be there before 10:30!!
It will work out well for us for our Sunday plans for the day..will go out for breakfast before the exhibition and then have the rest of the day pretty well planned for what we want to do......
Watching the 10 day forecasts now.....

I am so excited,, I showed this to my daughter and we read all about the "terra cotta army"and we are both quite excited to go! It makes up for the Marie Antionette exhibit being over when we arrive( daughter really wanted to see that!). I am a bit nervous about committing to a date and time for entrance,, I so much more of a fly by the seat of my pants travellor, this means I will lHAVE to be somewhere at a certain time( well worth it though) .
Gitte a super big thanks for posting this,!

joan1, you don't have to worry about tickets for La Pinacothèque already - you are going this July, right ? As to Marie Antoinette, I strongly suggest a visit to Versailles. You may have been there before, but for a firsttimer as your daughter (perhaps romantically disposed ?), Versailles is one of the truly impressive memories to take home from a trip to Paris. Spend a full day, visiting Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon and Le Hameau (you can take the little train out in the park, and save the long walk for somewhere else) - as well as every nook of the palace. if you buy the combined train-and-chateau ticket "Forfait Loisirs", you are entitled to free audioguides in the entrance hall. www.transilien.com/web/site/accueil/citylien/forfaits-loisirs/Chateau-de-Versailles/lang/enSorry for the off-topic digression.......

LOL THanks Gitte,, we will of course be going to Versailles, my 6th time. daughters first, my first time being when I was only a year older then my daughter will be. I have a picture of me in the Hall of Mirrors, and I remember how crowded I thought it was,, and in the photo there is SPACE all around me, empty,, I guess the crowds were not so bad 30 yrs ago! LOL
Is anyone else having trouble with buying tickets for the TCW,, I am unable, it lists the month, the date,, but when I try to enter a time it goes blank. I guess I will wait a few days and try again or use someones elses computer, I really am quite retarded about these things.
I know it is months away( stop rubbing it in,, my day with come, LOL) but, I want to get a 10:30 am ticket so I can beat the massive crowds,, plus its a start to my day plan that way.

thanks Gitte, but neither worked for me, first link said " object not found' second link got me onto site, but I could not enter a time on the date, just lines across it. I phoned my stepmom as she is interested in going also( they will go after we leave Paris as we only overlap by two days) and she was able to go on the site you gave me, and get the dany tickets, so it is obviously my computer. I will get them from her computer later. no worries.
Thanks for being so helpful, really how exalted can one, be, soon I shall call you "Gitte The Exalted One" LOL

I just doubel checked the tinyurl site that I mentioned above...no problem with it for purchasing tickets..it is in English. Click on the purchase from Pinacoteca... not the fnac.

Here is a photo of the Pinacothèque I took today. It is just behind the Madeleine at #28 Place de la Madeleine. Presently there is a mildly interesting Man Ray exhibit featuring his drawings, sculpture, paintings; many things not previously exhibited, with commentary on his life and career written in French and English. I am a big admirer of his and only wish they had shown more of his outstanding photos, for which in my opinion is what he is most famous. There were several of him and his contemporaries together...Tristan Tzara, Picasso, Picabia, Hemingway, Kiki, at al.

Yes indeed; I just returned from the FNAC at Gare St. Lazare where I bought tickets for that as well as Marie Antoinette at the Grand Palais.

We are going the day after you and I don't know what their policy is on photos, but you can bet it will be posted conspicuously if they are verboten. Weather? Yesterday beautiful and sunny, today drizzles and chilly. I made our gtg reservations today.

Thanks, I'll watch for signs so I don't take any pictures if it is not allowed. I just checked the wunderground.com weather and it's looking like a sunny day, rainy day, sunny day etc. etc. Of course I'll be so happy to be in Paris that the rainy days won't bother me that much but I would hope for some sunny days! See you soon!

Yeah,, just got my tickets,, my computer would not allow me for some bizzare reason, no matter how I assessed the site, even when I went to the FNAC site .. frustrating. Went to a friends house and had no problem. My daughter and I will be going at 10:30 on July the 8th. It was hard to pick a time and a day,, I had being tied down like that,, but at least it is in the morning and not the middle of the day. It is a bit odd to me that the first showing is so late in morning,, Parisiennes really don't " do " mornings do they!!??

Resurrecting the Terracotta Warriors thread, sorry! My daughter and I went to see this exhibit at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana (CA) today. It was very interesting and worthwhile, tho I must admit it didn't blow my socks off as much as I had hoped. I think Randy's right, best to see in China...but still a wonderful appetizer. Suzanne, have you been over to see them yet? The exhibit will be open until Oct. 12.

Funny you should mention that Annette. We plan to go tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing the exhibit but I am not as enthralled with ancient Chinese history as my husband and son are so they will probably enjoy it more than I will.

Suzanne, when I called the museum to check on tickets, the message suggested buying them online because they're selling out over the weekends. I don't think they were sold out yesterday, but in my opinion, they let too many into the exhibit at one time. Oh well. If you have a chance, go into one of the theaters to the left of the entry (nearest the valet parking) and watch the movie. We had a better understanding of what we were seeing after that. We weren't much into the other Chinese displays either. They do have a gem exhibit that the kids really liked (daughter's boyfriend was along, and he works in his dad's jewelry store, so he told us about all the pretty baubles we were seeing )
