For those who might be interested in the Christmas Markets and/or Alsace whenever, I will give you this site. You will see their private estate in St. Cyr-sur-Morin, near La Ferte-sous-Jouarre, off the road to Reims. I rented their lovely cottage. They also have two rooms. Then you can go to Alsace to see the places there. We became great friends, they have been my houseguests in NC and I went to Alsace, Riquewihr, with them to see what they were re-modeling, in the very beginning. Their website will show you what they have done so far...more yet to come. Their places are absolutely beautiful, in every way. They come into Paris whenever I am there for a get together. I will see them in April. Take a look at the site: www.rosa-gallica.frEnjoy..... Joan

Luvparee
Look at their places in Riquewhir, Alsace. They are gorgeous!!
Jean-Paul and Martine are wonderful people. The day I arrived they took me to Provins, to a charming place..I have no idea where...for dinner along the river and then to Vaux-le-Vicomte for the candlelight visit. He took me one day to visit HIS Champagne friends and then I went to Riquewhir with them...
Oh, daily breakfast is included with the cottage......

Thanks so much for this post - I will be in Alsace in December for the Christmas Markets so this is great info. I have just found out that my family descends from Jean Christopher Wildermoth of Alsace ( many generations ago ) so am excited about getting to see the land of my ancestors !

Waaaa Magan, you are the 3rd Alsacian on this forum, with Raytripnebraska and me ! Actually Demarais, I live in Lorraine, not in Alsace anymore (that's why I miss it !), but we go back there a few times a year to visit the family . Megan, if you plan to Christmas markets, here are two advices : first, do not go there during a week-end (the crowds are unbelievable), and second, book you accomodation a very long time ahead (Strasbourg is fully booked during the Xmas market period many months ahead, and I bet that it is the same for Colmar) . You'll find a thread called "Strasbourg" here, with photos of the city at Christmas time . There is also a thread called "Colmar", which is more about Alsace generally speaking and where I posted a link to a Xmas markets website .
