(This is a copy of my post over on the General forum. Someone suggested that I should move it over here. J)
I didn't quite know where to put this question. It's not really an "Other Destination in France" Query so I'm sticking it here.
I was poking around on the TA forum and realized that it's possible to visit Bruges (Brugge) from Paris. I've always wanted to see this place! My question is would you make it a day trip or would you spend the night? Our apartment will be paid for whether we're there or not so we'd pay for two places that night if we stay over.
I've found a fairly decent hotel in Bruges (Brugge) for 85 euros, so it's not too expensive. Is a night Bruges (Brugge) an important component of a visit there?
(I've posted this question on the Brugge forum at TA but I'd love to hear your perspectives.)
Jennifer
BTW Is it Bruges or Brugge? I keep seeing both.
Thanks,
J

What time of year would you be there? (Will the sun set early or late?) Could you spend the evening in Brugge and then take a late train back to Paris? (Check the schedules -- not all cities have late trains to Paris, and you will probably have to change trains in Brussels.)
Actually, I loved Brugge, but it's mostly the museums and the canal ride that I remember. The city I loved at night was Brussels, with the magnificent grand square all lit up, and the fantastic rue des Bouchers for dinner. Maybe you should consider a day in Brugge & a night in Brussels?

Since my wife and I spent time last year in Amsterdam we are ready for Brugge on our next visit to Paris. Would love to hear some of the places to visit in Brugge.
