Just watched a TV show Dinner Impossibel where the chef had to make this dish, among other things, at an Ice hotel! Gather it is a Quebec specialty. any thoughts from our Canadien contingent? Forgive the lack of accent.

While visiting both Montreal and Quebec City, I have eaten Tourtiere and enjoy it. It is a version of meat pie and I tend to like most versions as long as the meat is not gristly. It seems to be fund in Quebecois restaurants.
Would imagine that there are subtle differences depending on the cook.

I think it's the national dish of Canada (just kidding) but it's VERY popular in the winter months. Of course, a lot of Canadians made their way down in to New England. I know a lot of older woman who make the recipe the way it was taught to them by their mothers and grandmothers. I think the most popular version is made with pork. It's delicious! I've never made it. I've only been lucky enough to enjoy it several times. Especially delicious when followed by (Canadian) maple syrup pie for dessert.
