We saw this a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to mention it but haven't had much time (been really busy! sold our house and getting ready to move to San Francisco in a couple of weeks).
It's a delightful movie, a coming of age type about a young pregnant teen. Could be classed as a "chick flik" I suppose but deserves a much wider audience - really liked the lead actress in particular. Not surprising I haven't heard of her, since she herself is quite young, but I suspect she's going to be well known in time.
I recommend this, and am curious if others have seen it and what they thought.

I saw the movie last week, and I was actually disappointed. My expectations had been quite high, and I felt that it was just a so-so movie. My friends ( we were three couples) basically felt the same way as I did.

Moving to San Fran! How fun! (San Fran, not the process of "moving" itself, that is!)
Hmmm...have "Juno" on my list of movies to see but have not seen it. My brother, however, really liked it , including the music...so can't be just a chick flick, eh?

Hi Anne - it's a building in the "South Beach" area (recently redeveloped, previously port and light industrial, near where the baseball park is located). It's a fairly "young" area (very popular with young professionals) with lots of restaurants and starting to get some shops. More important from our perspective, my husband can walk to his office in about five minutes and I can get to mine in 15 minutes on the Metro or 30 minutes walking - plus, they accept pets (we have a cat) which is difficult to find in any apartment in this area. Actually, we are planning in a couple of years to move to Louisville (Kentucky) as a retirement area, so this will be just an interim stop along the way. We just found a wonderful old - by US standards - house there, that requires some renovation although mostly decorative. My husband's company wants him to develop their territory in that part of the country, so rather than have him constantly on planes and away from home, we will just relocate when I'm ready to leave my firm and do something else. Somewhat interesting note: the city got its name from connections to France at the time it was founded - also nearby is the town of Versailles (local pronunication is "Ver-sales"! ), where we actually looked at one house but couldn't say the name of the town (in a way that local people would understand) without giggling so that was right out!

I saw "Juno" right before the Academy Awards. It was okay - from all the hype, I was expecting more. The actress who had the lead (can't think of her name right now) did a great job but not Oscar winning in my opinion - I saw the interview with Barbara Walters before the awards and Barbara asked her if she thought she should win the Oscar and she said No. I may have enjoyed the movie more if I could have understood all the punch lines - she talked quite fast and we missed a lot of them.

Oh Dear!...but it is worthy of a giggle. From this neck of the woods, we have a road called Beauchamp Road - but by locals it's pronouced bee-champ - ;D Mez

I saw Juno about a month ago and just adored it!! I thought it was very well done and thought Ellen whatshername did a great job of playing the lead. After seeing her on Barbara Walters it really did not look like it was that much of a 'stretch' for her, though, I must say. So glad Marion Cottiard (sp) won the lead actress award for La Vie En Rose!!! Just love her!!

You gave me a laugh! When we lived in Pittsburgh and David had his first post-college job with D&B, he came home one night and told me he'd spent the day in Dubois...pronoucing it the French way. I didn't know where he had been..In PA it's dew boys. There is also a Versailles Township nearby , also pronounced the KY way!
The one that really cracks me up though is Grosvener TX. The Texans pronounce it Gross Veen er, rathe than Grove ner

Becky, I must say that I don't know at all about South Beach area . But how is it that you can be forbidden to own a pet in an appartment ? And what a nuisance can a cat be, I mean it is not as if it can be a nuisance by barking Some landlords refuse dogs in France, but that is the only thing that I have heard (I am not talking here about short-term vacation rentals, of course) .

Anne, a lot of apartments don't allow dogs and cats. Many years ago our building passed a no pet rule. Some time later there was a huge fire next door and while we were all evacuated and freezing on the sidewalk waiting to see if the fire was going to spread to our building (it didn't , but did burn down the fire station wedged between us), the president of the co-op board was out on the sidewalk counting illegal pets! Absolutely disgusting.
The rule was overturned and the president removed very quickly after that.
Nevertheless, I have in the past been a landlord with very liberal pet rules and while I could handle an occasional flea infestation or cat claws on woodwork, I was very unhappy when I had a good part of my 1864 wooden floor chewed up by a guinea pig whose owners gave him run of the apartment instead of keeping him in a cage!

Yes, I have seen Juno and I loved it. This is my favorite quote, "That's one doodle that can't be undid, home skillet."
I also like the part where the Jason Bateman character asks her whether her parents will be worried about her and she replies that as she is already pregnant, there aren't really any other "shenanigans" for them to worry about her getting into.

We saw it on the plane coming home this march break and we were both disappointed. I was expected so much more and felt that alot of the essence must have been left on the cutting room floor.
