So now the USA and Canada(EST) are behind France for 5 hours instead of 6 for 3 weeks!
I was in Paris once when the time changed...many notices in the hotel lobby, breakfast room, elevator, bar....vacationers have little sense of time let alone a time change!

The very first time change after the US altered its DST policy caused complete havoc at CDG because nobody had thought about the fact that all the flights from the US would be arriving an hour earlier than expected! There were no empty gates, no agents, no baggage personnel, etc.!!

I hate daylight savings time. It is stupid and makes no sence to me at all. Someone said it was orginally instituted to help the farmers by giving them an extra hour of daylight for farming,, which is hilarious since Saskchewan is one province in Canada that does NOT participate in it, and Saskchewan is known as the " bread basket " of Canada( since they grow so much wheat) Getting up today in the pitch black at 7 am was depressing.

I'm all for DST, though we haven't switched to it yet. I think it'll be on March 28th. The later in the day that it stays light is a blessing to me.

Joan, Remember that Saskatchewan is considerably further north than US agricultural regions and that you get more sunshine during the growing season. Secondly, adjusting the time is critical now! It helps us save natural resources because it allows us to spend more of our waking hours in the light, requiring less use of electric lights.

We will move to DST tonight . The fact that it is called " l'heure d' été " helps us tolerating the earlier waking hour ...

it is tonight all over Europe, I believe.
Everybody forgets what you should do with your watch, when we change to summertime/wintertime - one hour one or the other way ?? So in DK we have this clever rule for remembering:
In the spring you put your garden furniture forwards In the autumn you take your garden furniture backwards
Ain't we the smartest ?! ;D
