You heard it here first ! La Vie en Rose won the Oscar for Best Make Up. It took me back to Paris when they played a clip of "Edith Piaf" singing.

You heard it here again. The Best Actress award at the Academy Awards went to the actress who played Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose.

Edith Piaf had a horrible childhood and the rest of her life was not that great either!
There is a small Edith Piaf museum in Paris. It will probably receive more activity due to the movie.

Wasn't she gorgeous playing Crowe's Love in "A Very Good Year" (so was Provence) and, as I mentioned before, it is her father who is the mime in the French in Action Videos.

GraceJoan,
Have you been to the Piaf Museum in Paris? We saw the movie last October and I have the museum on my "to do" list for April.

I felt she should win...she was sooo fabulous in this movie and she is simply delightful in all her interviews...I just love her! I really thought Cate Blanchette would win.

I guess it all depends of your passion for Edith but I did not found the museum to be that great. You will see some of her clothing, some letters and souvenirs, not really well presented, obviously it is all very amateurs. I love Edith, I know all the lyrics of much of her songs, I read three biographies but I was not moved at all but the museum and taugh the movie was badly put together. Marion did carry the entire movie on her shoulders and she deserve the oscar. How touching for her that the last French actress to have one was Simone Signoret.

Thanks for the info on the Piaf Museum - I had googled it right after we saw the movie but had forgotten that it was by appt only. I liked the movie - such a sad life. She was so talented and I'm looking forward to seeing the museum.

I wasted an afternoon looking for the shop that had Piah's embalmed cat. When I finally found it , it had gone out of business but by the looks of the photo on line, that poor kitty was soon to turn to ashes.
