As some of you know, Karen's mother has been sick for quite a while and Ian's father got very sick last Nov/Dec. too. So Ian and Karen are presumably very busy seeing to all that, as both their parents are not so young anymore. Anyway, that's the last I heard from Ian, I think it was in Nov. Let's send them our warmest thoughts - yes, he is indeed a very dear and charming personality. And a gallant, generous husband - a rare species (remember that luxurious lunch he took Karen to for her birthday at Le Pre-Catalan ? )

Ian's family has been in my prayers ever since I heard about their illnesses. BTW, Ian signed in a few days ago, but he's obviously too preoccupied to post. I'm sure he misses us as much as we miss him.

I also want to add my best wishes to Ian and his family. It isn't easy being in the "sandwich generation." ( Translation--caught between older parents and children, grown and otherwise.) We are still using the recipe he sent for lamb confit.

I'm using my new laptop and I don't quite have the hang of the keyboard! I keep looking for the numeric pad on the right and the touchpad is driving me nuts!

Ian and Karen, I am thinking about you both also. As we all know, it's very difficult to become the parent of OUR parents. I have been put in that position several times and it there is nothing more difficult. So please know that you are in my prayers. Susan

..........................Nothing! Thanks to everyone for your concerns and thoughts. I was merely taking a little time out. Hospitalised parents, increased hours at work, hospitalised dogs, and spouse with shingles has added up to not much time. I have been dipping into the forum, usually late at night, and that has brought a smile I have enjoyed your trip reports, and articles and links- Thank you An update. Karen recovering, one parent still in hospital, both dogs recovering, work a pain, , and..........................March 26th, 5 days in Paris! Best wishes to all, and I will try and participate more fully in the future.
