I went to see "I'm not there" tonight, the Bob Dylan bio pic. I was sad to hear about Heath Ledger, and after seeing his performance in this movie, I felt worse. His performance kind of gave me the chills. I can see why Cate Blanchett received an Academy Award nomination, she was brilliant. If you are a Dylan fan, I would highly recommend it. At the end I turned to my wife and said that was a great film, and she replied I'm glad you liked it because I didn't get it at all. So, I don't know if everyone would enjoy it, but I did. One scene was even shot in Paris.

I haven't seen it yet, although I have read reviews that say it will appeal more to fans of Dylan.
I'm sure that attendance will increase due to audiance curiosity about Ledger's role. Is this his last movie role? Or did he complete something else that hasn't been released yet?

Thanks for the heads up, I will want to see it. I'm certainly not a fan of everything Dylan did (the last album was mainly pretty forgetable) but he's done a lot of things I loved (and of course, he's another of those song writers whose songs you sometimes know because other people did them, and it comes as a surprise to find out he wrote them).

Not a fan of everything either but certainly a fan..."Blowing in the Wind?". "Like a Rolling Stone"? Perfection! And not to forget Lay Lady Lay...I recall many sing alongs in dorm rooms to "His clothes are dirty, but his hands are clean, and you're the best thing that he's ever seen!" Will definitely see the movie..and the book from a few years back, can't recall the title, was excellent too. Supposedly one of three? Unfortunately I won't be in your part of the World any time soon Sandy!

I did see "I'm Not There" this last Fall and it is a very different type of movie...a nonlinear collage of different aspects of Dylan's life/character as portrayed by a wide range of actors. I did think Cate Blanchett's portrayal of Dylan was stellar and deserving of a nomination/award. Agreed, quite shocking to hear of the loss of Ledger!

I was a bigger fan of Dylan's when I was younger. I now appreciate his songwriting more than his singing. There was a pretty good Dylan bio on PBS not too long ago.
I still love Positively 4th Street. It takes me back...

I think probably my favorite Dylan song would have to be "Most of the Time" (on the soundtrack to "High Fidelity," don't know if it ever was released on one of his albums), followed by some of his work with a short lived group called "Traveling Willburys" ("Dirty World" in particular).
