One of our newest members, Cigalechanta-Mimi, lost her dear husband to cancer today. I think some of you might know her from other forums also.
They both had a great love for France and traveled there often during their over 40 years of marriage, making many friends and enriching our knowledge of their beloved Provence.
There is a guest book that can be signed at the Boston Globe website. Though he was known as Jerry , his offical name is Frederick B Taylor

It is devastating to hear that, Demarais. That's the last thing I expected to see when I signed on a minute ago. We were all aware of his illness, and we have said prayers for him, but I guess that doesn't always help.

While our prayers may not change the unfortunate outcome, I believe they always help. I'll send my condolences, and continue to keep them in my prayers.

I feel so badly for her......... I hope she is comforted in her memories of her long life with him. I remember when the news first came out about his cancer. I am so thankful that they were able to make the trip to Provence this past summer. I started "hangin' out" with her when Bonjour Paris was about the only Paris forum online.
Thanks for posting this sad news ..... she will certainly be in my prayers and thoughts.

The guest book at the Boston Globe website is very easy to use. I urge everyone here to let Mimi know we're thinking about her and keeping her in our prayers at this sad time.

I am so sorry to learn about this. But there is comfort for her in the years they had together and the things that gave them pleasure--like Paris.
My sympathies to her and to her family.

Very sad news indeed, at any time. But 40 years and shared passions, memories, friends to comfort now. My deepest sympathy.

Thanks for the link. I did post on the site and hope it went through since there was some initial difficulty when I went to submit. I will check later to verify.

Mimi, Sending thoughts of healing to you and yours at this time of sorrow:
FOOTPRINTS
One night a woman had a dream. She dreamed she was walking along the beach with the Power that is. Across the sky flashed scenes from her life. For each scene, she noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: One belonged to her, the other to the Power that is.
When the last scene of her life flashed before her she looked back at the footprints in the sand. She noticed that many times along the path of her life there was only one set of foot prints. She also noticed that it happened at the lowest and saddest times in her life.
This really bothered her and she questioned the Power that is about it. "Power that is, you said that once I decided to follow you you would walk with me all of the way But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed you the most, you would leave me."
The Power that is replied, "My precious, precious child, during your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

I thought I had posted on the Boston Globe site but when I checked today, it does not appear to have gone through. I will wait till I am in the office on the 26th and post from there. My computer at home is up in years and needs to be upgraded. Sometimes things just don't work as they ought.

I had the same problem and thought I'd done something wrong so posted again. Naturally now both posts show. There was an excellent obit for Jerry in the paper today. He sounds like a man we would all like to have met . tinyurl.com/34yn7n

Jerry was a writer for the Boston Globe! I read the obituary and was stunned to realize who he was. I used to read him all the time!! What a tremendous void for Mimi and for all those who knew and loved him.
