Today starting soon is the NYC Marathon! So NYC is full of skinny people from all over the planet! My apartment is a half block from the 17 mile mark, and my brother ran it over 20 times(he has now "retired" to shorter races) so for years I had parties and a marathon of food and drink open house from before the start 'til evening when my brother left(after finishing, showering, eating and drinking etc.) Today I'll just watch the start on TV, have a bagel and Bloody Mary , then head down to 1st Avenue to watch the runners. I always cheer for the French runners!! "allez France" and get a wave in return! ;D It is a fun, festive day in the City...unless you have to drive someplace! A bit sad for me because many years when working for the City I would be taking advantage of the Election Day and Veteran's Day holidays and heading to Paris the day after the Marathon. Talk to folks in the lines at the airport and on the plane wearing their Marathon finisher medals heading home!

Running through all 5 boroughs of N.Y. sounds like an exciting race indeed, but to tell you the truth, I get so tired just thinking about running all those miles!

Another year has passed..another NYC Marathon! The elite women have just started! For those of you planning next year's travels...Marathon week is a lovely time in NYC! Very festive, weather usually good(chilly now 39 F..good for the runners..but warming up to 60's F later..not so good for the "regular" thousands of runners who will be out there much longer! I just deviled some eggs, will have a bagel and a Bloody before heading out to the street to catch the lead runners whiz on by!
