Yes, Happy!! I am a Red Sox fan! I stayed up and watched every game but one (5th) til the last pitch was thrown! It is just sooo exciting that we made it to this point. Nowwww...bring it on Diamondbacks! I will be watching the first game tonight...but will miss while in Paris. Well...I guess sometimes, you just have to give up something to get something in this life...right? !! LOL!! And what about the Patriots??!! Holy @@@@! Goooo Boston!!!

Hmm, sorry to interfere, but what sport are you talking about ? I guess that it must be either baseball or American football ?

Anne, it's baseball. The Boston Red Sox are playing in the World Series starting tonight. Since Trechic is also from Massachusetts, I wondered if she was at all depressed about missing it while in Paris. It would definitely be a tough choice for me...

Well, it's a good thing that it will be over by the time we're in Paris, happy (with the Red Sox as champions, or course)...but can you REALLY say that it would be a tough choice?! I think I'd have to kill you if you told me that you were depressed in Paris over missing a baseball game!!!!

Oh but it's not just ANY baseball game, SE...It's the World Series! I realize that only another sports fan such as MOI would understand. And I didn't say that I wouldn't GO to Paris, SE, just that it would be a tough choice. PS. And I NEVER mope when in Paris (that's me in Paris)

No Happy...I would understand too!! Fortunately since I try to get to Paris every year in Sept. Oct. would not be likely for when the natural order of things returns and the Yankees are again in the World Series!!! However if I was offered an October trip.....guess I'd have to go , and of course the Yankees have won it SO MANY TIMES!!! (meow) Yeah , and I'll be watching boring TV for the next few days...no exciting games for me!

To whom it may concern: I hope you enjoy the World Series, and may the team of your choice win. I know what an exciting time it is for all you baseball fans in the States. Incidentally, it's always been a mystery to me why these games are called the "World Series" when they only involve the U.S.

Since Baseball was "invented" in the US ,,,when they first started the "World Series" we were the only ones playing it! Hence if you won, you were the World Champions!! Now of course baseball is played in many other countries, including Canada in "our" league, and "our" players are certainly international! But the name remains...baseball has its traditions!!

I've never heard of that league Shoesy! (the things you learn on this forum!!) I would have a hard time deciding who to root for! At least with the World Series, I can say that I used to live in Boston (the lights from Fenway Park even used to shine into my bedroom window), so it's kinda my "home town team"...

Shoesy, sports is a wonderful diversion from real life. There are enough serious things to deal with in life that make following sports harmless enough. In this case, to heck with France I hope your team wins!

Thanks, Happy ! For my two guys (hubby and son) it's extremely important. They have season tickets, and look forward to every game. Sports is definitely a diversion, and even though I watch the games, I do enjoy the enthusiasm that so many people here share.
