There is a report today in the Boston Globe that France's president, Sarcozy, has chosen Wolfeboro, New Hampshire for his family's summer vacation this year.
Here's my question. With all the gorgeous areas in France and, for that matter, Europe, why would he go to dinky, uninteresting Wolfeboro, New Hampshire for a vacation? I can't figure it...

I've never heard of Wolfeboro NH - and I lived in NE for several years! So you know this place, Happy?
Maybe it's a sister city to some place in France...or maybe Sarko has some secret New Hampshire relatives??!

It's on Lake Winnepessauki. It's nice enough for New Englanders. It's a small lake community. It's just that I would have thought that the president of France would pick a grander place, I guess. Sistereurope, it would be like you're used to shopping in Boston and then go try the shopping in Saugus . I mean, Saugus isn't bad, it's just incredibly uninteresting after Boston.

Not that there's anything WRONG with Saugus!

You should see the house in NH where Sarcozy is staying. It's a tudor mansion at the lakefront. The locals are all abuzz, of course.
The local sentiment seems to be that this is a rather obvious bid to mend the French-American relationship a bit. If it is, you might think he'd have picked a flashier place to vacation...oh well, I hope he brought his camera and fanny pack.

I saw where that house rents for $30,000.00 a week! I wonder who's paying for it?

I just read the AP piece, that said it's an 8-BR, 11-BA (!) house owned by a former Microsoft Corp. exec.
I guess that probably does beat out anything available in Saugus, sistereurope.

Today's New York Times had the details. Perhaps he is the guest of the owner. There is a private beach, media room, etc. so it should be lucurious. Drew Barrymore stays in the area so other notables do go there. If he wants quiet, security and some degree of privacy, this may be perfect.
