???I just saw video of the flooding in England and wanted to be sure that Andi and Ian and any other UK pals are out of harm's way.

Excellent point, goldenmama. The pictures on the news last night were just awful. We're thinking about you, Andi and Ian...

So now I have something else to worry about. Looking forward to hearing from our posters in England.

At least Ian should be OK because he is from North East of UK, while the worst flooding is said to be in South West and South Central for the time being . That teaches you to keep things in perspective : everyone in France complains that the weather has been quite bad since early May , but then UK is flooded (and was already so last month) and South and Central Europe is suffocating, people are dying from the heat (and last month as well) .

I'm guessing Andi still is crazy busy, and I think (not sure) that Ian was going to be away for a week or two (hopefully, someplace not now underwater!). I seem to recall that Parisfan2 also is from the UK, so hope he's well and dry also! (Do we have any members from Texas, which also seems to be under water?)

Hi, Thank you for asking everyone. We are certainly fine and as Anne said in the NE of England we have had rain (nearly as much as Geordy & Shoesy! but no flooding. It appears on this occasion to have affected the south to the west of London, around Oxford and Gloucestershire. We are approx 500km north. Andi should be OK to as I don't think the Midlands as been badly affected (on this occasion) Just checking through the forum after a few days away and celebrating my parents Golden Wedding. When reading JC post it makes us cherish even more what we have. JC - so sorry to hear of your loss and it is good that the forum has helped you even a little bit to cope with the situation. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your report and they all bring our October visit excitedly to mind! So many new places to go. Also read Truffaut's report re the starter at LPC- ouch! We still have our reservation but it will definitely be from the FP lunch menu! Thanks again for your concerns everyone. Retiring now for a pm glass of Sancerre and a kip!

Ian, the day we visited, the least expensive menu included the langoustine ravioli/springroll, the sweetbreads and the peanut butter/banana/chocolate dessert. According to AnneParis, they will allow substitutions (wish I had known at the time). The langoustine springrolls were excellent, the raviolis were gummy outside and undercooked inside, the sweetbreads were good, and the dessert was like a 6th grader's home economics cooking project!

Glad your area isn't under water, Ian. That worry has crossed my mind the last few days, too! We have friends in Falmouth, Cornwall...wonder if they're swimming?

Thanks for asking everyone........yes all is well in staffordshire too! Bloomin sick of all the rain but it could have been worse, as the people in Gloucester are suffering terribly. Finally booked our camping trip for 3 weeks time in Cornwall, I do hope the nice weather breaks through for then as we might have to take a boat instead of a tent. I am trying to keep up with the reading on here but still super busy at the moment. Take care all and speak to you again soon, Andi xxx
