Who is Dita von Teese ??

So I asked myself, as this ivory-skinned, black-haired 40ies-style filmstar appeared again and again in the gossip columns in my French ladies magazine, Figaro Madame.

So I presumed that she might be some German, Swiss or French countess or dutchess, belonging to the uppermost Parisian jetset.......... I naturally pronounced the name in German, so to me the "Von Teese's" could very well be a Bavarian, stinking rich, ancient family seated in some schloss in the mountains. The presumed dutchess always carry this haughty, welt-schmerz, bored, totally sexy, blasé expression.....

HA !!! Boy, I am sooo ignorant !!! ;D So today, when she appeared in the gossip pages of my magazine again, I looked up the gal..... If anyone should be in doubt, here she is.

Well, that's an interesting question! Maybe this is another example of one of those people who are celebrities for no real reason (the old line about people who are "famous for being famous")?

Update: okay, how did the photo change from the time I read the original post to the time I responded? (The earlier one, apparently shot in a bathroom given all the surrounding tile and mirror, looked like something from a seedy 1940s "private eye" movie!)

And she has become reasonably well known in France since she performed in a Parisian nude show (can't remember which) .

She is indeed Marilyn Manson's recent ex-wife. A wonderful burlesque artist, famous for her champagne glass bubblebath routine. She has a marvelous collection of 1940's clothes and can also famously fit her body into a 16 inch waisted corset.
