I love jazz festivals...well, really I love all music festivals (except opera - sorry luc!!!! ;D) Sigh...how fun would it be to travel around to music festivals all summer?!
Anyway, Baltimore has a great free outdoor/indoor arts festival called Artscape every summer. Music, poetry, art...it's really nice because it brings the city together (one of the few events where you'll find a real hodgepodge of ages and ethnic groups) Unfortunately we'll be in Mexico this year so we'll miss it!

As Shoesy can attest to, since she visited Boston on the Fourth of July a few years ago, the celebration of the Fourth of July on the Esplanade with the Boston Pops Orchestra is just SO much fun. It is broadcast on national television, but, of course, the fireworks are so much better in person. I just LOVE fireworks and these are always over-the-top great.
I am also apt to go pick up my mom and bring her to the local common on Friday nights where local bands play on the bandstand. It is always well-attended. The children dance and the grownups visit and listen to (usually) good music. It is a lovely way to relax on a summer evening.

Yes, the Fourth of July celebration on the esplanade is one of the things I miss about living in Boston. The fireworks/Boston Pops concert is something to see...it even makes ME feel all patriotic, which is really saying something!

You guys have just reminded me how much I loved Boston. I wonder if I'll ever have a chance to go there again.
