Okay..this is totally off topic but.... In the NYC Time Out Magazine they featured a deli/produce place a couple of blocks from my place. They said they had alot of kosher products imported from Israel at really good prices. Mentioned one..Bamba.."peanut buttery puffed corn snack" As a PB lover and one who has never met a nut, or legume, I didn't like ..had to try it! I'm in love! I assume it is marketed to kids in Israel(the package has a cartoon baby/kid with a soccer ball) but it hit my taste buds. This is the first bag mind you and things could change..but just wondering if our lovely Goddess from Israel has heard of it??

Hi geordy,
Well, I can't speak to the bamba (never heard of it) but we did have an AWESOME time in NY this past weekend. I went to the MOMA for the first time in many years and was blown away by the sheer amount of great art...really wonderful. And Jubilee was just delicious - we had a very cute French waiter and our food was just delightful - very flavorful and just perfect French bistro fare. So...enjoy your life up there in the big apple, hon!!!

This is soooooooooo funny. ;D Here I am, up before 5:00 A.M., just trying to decide which thread to start reading, when I see one entitled "Bamba". Of course our well-known snack is what immediately came to mind, but I said to myself that you must be talking about something else, and I was ever-so curious to know what. EVERYONE in Israel knows what Bamba is. It's the first snack that a baby (toddler) is given. Whenever your kid is whiny, you just give him a small bag of Bamba to shut him up. No home that has kids is Bamba-less. BTW, until recently we had a cat named Bamba. He was orange with some white, so the name suited him.

One more thing........In many cases, "Bamba" is the third word that an Israeli kid learns to say. It comes right after "Ima" (Mommy) and "Abba" (Daddy).

Shoesy, So glad you did not say <"that vile stuff? no wonder they export it!" I'd lose all food creds on the forum!! Any other goodies I should look for in that store? (#1 Farmer's Market, 1470 2nd Ave , btw.76 and 77BTW) No kids here but it helped a bit with my whining over missing a fare to Paris...silly me was waiting for it to go down and of course it went up! In my defense it is not entirely silly...may have to be in NYC for the time frame wanted and was trying to wait until there was more info on that. Not giving up though! And Sister, So glad you had a great time and enjoyed Jubilee! What did you have besides the moules?

geordy, All that research and no one felt like the moules!! We did like it though - it felt like we were in France. Luckymama and lil sistereurope had the chicken (with some velvety mashed potatoes) and I had seared scallops with porcini mushrooms over orzo. We also shared a special artichoke salad...and the adults drank a bottle of fabulous sancerre...so needless to say, no room for dessert...even bamba

Shoesy...don't you remember when we danced like mad so that geordy wouldn't get snowed in for her flight to Paris?! You were the lead dancer, so of course you must be ready to assume that role at a moment's notice whenever someone is in need of our good-luck dancing services!

I bought more!! This is getting bad..I fought it for a couple of days. Then since I defrosted the fridge I needed groceries. My grocery store did not have a suitable red onion...THAT was my excuse for stopping at the "Bamba" market!! The first bag was "large" 3 0z. plus. This time it is just 1 oz. (but I bought two!!) Plus a bag of "Bissli falafel flavor"..is it any good?? I'm an Israeli junk food nut!!

Bissli is another very popular snack food here. It comes in several flavors, but I can't remember which is my favorite since I've been trying to keep away from such things for quite a while. Gotta watch my figure with a wedding on the way. Geordy, I think you're just going to have to take a trip to Israel. You can even combine it with a trip to Paris. ;D

I know I rarely indulge in such snacks , even my favorite Doritos are generally limited to important sports events!! But now I've discovered these new things! ;D Love to go to Israel, and not just for the snacks ..one of these days!
