???On the advice of our travel agent, we had booked (and paid for) a van transport from CDG. The documents came yesterday and state that we will only be allowed one medium-sized suitcase per person, and we will be responsible for the cost of transporting any additional luggage. I will be doing my best to pack efficiently, but I don't think I can do it THAT efficiently! Has any one run in to that problem with transport companies? I am thinking it might pay to have 2 of us go on the van, and the other 2 take a cab with the extra luggage. Any idea of cab fare (I can't believe I'm saying this ) between CDG and the Louvre area? I want to be sure that I don't get ripped off by this transport company! Thanks!

Hi Goldenmama,
We have used ATS the last four times from CDG, and never been charged extra for additional luggage whether it be shared transport or for ourselves only.
By the way with shared transport you can end up going quite away around Paris before reaching your accomodation. Look at it as a mini sightseeing tour!!! ;D
Best wishes

Maybe this just means that (as with cabs in many cities) there might be a slight extra charge per bag if more than one? I'd suggest asking your travel agent to get that info (as you booked on the agent's advice, and now potentially face the charge for a cab as well as the van charge). It's been awhile since I took a taxi from CDG into Paris but would guess it's going to be at least 45 to 50E (others can perhaps give more current info on that point).

Methusala, Becky! Wow, we'll now have dueling Methusalas! Thanks for your responses. My travel agent was only able to find out that the driver will charge the penalty, but wasn't able to find out what it would be. Maybe its just a threat that they don't actually carry out, as in Ian's case. I'll cross my fingers!

Golden, glad to see appropriate deference being offered, but Shoesy climbed to that lofty pinnacle long before I did, and she will always be the "chief Methuselah"! ;D Perhaps I can be "vice-Methuselah" (oooooh, "vice," I like the sound of that , I'll be the "Methuselah in charge of vice" perhaps??)

So does that mean that I'm in charge of virtue? ;D

Shoesy, as the "Chief Methuselah," you can be in charge of absolutely anything you want! ;D
