No...couldn't quite wrap my head around Tom Cruise as a huge blond hulk/hunk. Couldn'y see him in Diary of a Vampire either...Ann Rice came around after seeing it but I didn't! It is on my Netflix list...one of these days maybe...after "one For the Money"(did not get great reviews) based on the Janet Evanovich "#" number series books which I also read...she is from my hometown..same street!..and a fellow Douglass College Alumnus!

Me too, Jody. I was appalled that they'd cast Tom Cruise, as the mental image (for me anyway) was more Harrison Ford than TC. I love the books though.
Geordy, I love the Stephanie Plum series. I think Janet E. lives in New Hampshire now, but that's pretty cool that she was a neighbor of yours!

I'M READING THE latest Maisie dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. They are really good mysteries and I love the characters from the lower class Brits to high society and how they interact. They take place in London after WW! AND ALL STILL FEEL THE EFFECTS.

I haven't read any of the Maisie Dobbs books. They are on my list but I get so little time to read for pleasure these days. I am currently reading the entire Bryant & May detective series by Christopher Fowler. All set in London with lots of info about quirky and little-known facts about London.

Thanks Mez, I just ordered 1 B&M from library and3 from Amazon onlt 1 cent each!!! What?? Are they eBooks? I am afraid I am shallow enough to probably pass a book over at that price which would be a shame as I really enjoy the B&M series.

I just finished Paris by Rutherfurd. It is 800 pages and it is the multi-generational account of a number of socially different families from the 1200s to the late 1900s through wars, religious wars and political upheaval. I liked this book, what is not to like about reading about Paris but I felt his other efforts especially Sarum,Russka and London were better. What I did like is that the story keeps coming back to when the Paris we know today the Belle Epoque. Cheers Dan

Indeed, I think after you read this book, along with Ayn Rand's ... We often hear of the greed of industrial capitalists, we are reminded ... ancestors often gave their lives to create all we are and all we've ... Winslow, Lance "Ayn Rand Predicted the Maurice Greenberg Story - Think About That For a Moment.

I'm just reading Douglas Kennedy's The Woman in the Fifth. Good read and, happily, it all takes place in Paris. out..... I just finished it...was not happy with the"twist"..just when I was thinking ..now how is this going to work out?...easy out..... Could picture everywhere he went though....

Geordy, Denise turned me on to Douglas Kennedy. She and I both felt the same way about The Woman In The Fifth. She said it was as though someone else finished the book (although I don't think that's the case).
His other books are really good and don't have any of those sorts of "twists".

Yeah somebody like Stephen King.....but not him cuz then it would have been better. Man may be a Red Sox fan but he is a genius! Saw him on Letterman with John Mellancamp...they are have collaberated on a show about a real haunted cabin...John bought it years ago!
