Hi gang,
I have a question. My Italian "baby sister" and a friend are flying from Venice to Paris to stay with us. (She was an exchange student who met my sister and lived with my family when they were in high school. We've stayed in touch for over 20 years and I do love her like a sister. She's an incredibly sweet and nice person and a lot of fun to be with - I am so excited!! ) Anyway, they are flying into Orly, arriving 6:45 PM on Thursday. Can anyone give me an estimate as to how long it might take them to get to our apartment in the 5th? I know that Orly is closer to center-city Paris than CDG, but I've never been there so I have no idea how much closer!
Thanks...oooh, just a few more days! The waiting can be agonizing (but I won't complain because I do realize how awfully lucky I am to be leaving for Paris! ;D)

We dropped a car off at Orly once, and took the Air France bus into Les Invalides. I think it took about 45 minutes. There's a taxi stand right outside of the Les Invalides terminal. However, I sometimes wonder if the taxi drivers know it's there. We've waited long times for one to show up!
The RER would be a bit faster and they'd be closer to the 5th. They probably wouldn't have a lot of luggage so the steps shouldn't be a problem at St Michel..unless the escalators aren't running!! There's a taxi stand right at the corner of St Micchel and Quai de Grand Augustins if they need it to get to your place.

thanks Demarais! We're really close to the St Michel stop so that sounds like the best route. My friend has been to Paris many times so I'm sure that they'll be fine..I was trying to get a handle on what time to expect them so that I can make plans for dinner. Thursday is our aligot night!!! ;D
