I just received my first issue of France magazine. There is an item in the Traveler section with the following:
Until now, if you wanted to order a cab in Paris, you had to decide which taxi service to call. A new centralized number makes life easier: 01 45 30 30 30

That number replaces the old system where you were supposed to call the number of the taxi stand nearest you. It is to be used when you are ready to get a cab at that very moment. If you want to call in advance for a taxi (e.g., you know you'll be leaving for the airport at 6am tomorrow) you still have to call one of the individual companies.

That's important to know. Thanks for the follow-up.

Gitte, Have you subscribed to that magazine before? I know that recently there has been discussion about that magazine and maybe 1-2 others. How did you like your 1st magazine and what else is in it? Can you tell me where the other posting is regarding magazines? I'm looking for a general one, food, recipes, clothes, decorating etc. I didn't bookmark that site. Also, our weather has "turned" for the worse. Frekdeller (sp?) will be made this weekend!! s

Susan, here's that thread: www.ourparisforum.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1187882476Ian was a big sweetie and sent me an issue to check out. It is a very nice magazine, with regular sections on travel news, upcoming events, French life, culture, history, wine, food, language, book reviews, and a good amount of featured articles on art, museums, villages, etc. Sorry, no decorating or fashion (maybe occasionally if featured [?] but not in the Sept. issue), but there are recipes! I've been sidetracked from my magazine quest lately, but I think I will subscribe to France and Cote Sud, and most of my wish list will be met!

Does the new number replace the G7 taxi number for English speakers?

No, I don't believe so.
