Hi all.
My travel dates means I miss seeing a match in London, so I thought I'd watch a football match in Paris instead - even though my family think it's nuts for a female wanting to go solo to a match. ;D
There's a match on Sat 6 Oct but from what I can gather on the site, I can't buy tickets on line for this match at this time, and I will have left on my travels by the time they do go on sale.
So my questions are: 1. Is the PSG site the best place to buy tickets? 2. If not, where else can/should I buy tickets online? 3. If I buy tickets when I arrive, will that be too late? (I arrive on Oct 2) 4. If it's not too late, where can I buy tickets in person in Paris?
And have I made history by asking the first sports related question on this forum? Haha.
Thanks, Mez.

I cannot answer your questions, but I am not sure whether going solo as a female is a good idea indeed since PSG is the worst football club in France as far as hooligans fights are concerned . Marseille is close second, and when those two have a match one against the other, believe me, you don't want to attend, especially as Marseille and Paris hooligans HATE eachothers . Tell me which club the PSG is going to play that day, and I will ask my son what he thinks about this match ...

Anne is right about Paris hooligans but it depends very much where you get your seating in the stadium. To sum it up, forget the cheap tickets! The game on the 6th is against Rennes, not a derby and nothing exceptionnal. For your tickets there is a PSG shop on the champs elysées, or directcly on their website www.psg.frIt is a shame you will miss the game in London, games in the Premiership are much more interesting and the atmosphere a lot better.

Thanks guys - I do have written down somewhere what sections *not* to sit in courtesy of posts on TripAdvisor but I don't have them nearby right now to write them in.
Anne, if you could ask your son, that would be great. As Kasthor mentioned they are playing Rennes.
Kasthor, even I can't believe how poorly I planned the London part - I think there's a break that weekend due to Championship's League matches.
After tasting a Premier League match on my last trip, I am sure that a match in Paris will be alot closer to that than seeing one here at home - nowhere is there less atmosphere than at a football match in Sydney.
Thanks, Mez

My son isn't any more enthusiastic than Kasthor about this specific match . Although Rennes plays in the 1st league, he says that it is a so-so club . A good point is that this shouldn't be a violent match . One general thing to add about the "difficult" matchs : fights are not only in the stadium, but also outside, in the métro stations (Porte de St Cloud and Porte d'Auteuil) and all the way from the stations to the stadium . Of course there are hoards of CRS (special force policemen) around on nights when trouble is expected, but a solo woman or a family with young children shouldn't come by métro on such nights (if they want to come at all !... :

Thanks Anne for asking your son for me.
Hmm....I suppose I'll have another think about it. It's a shame because in addition to liking the game, at least it was an evening outing where I didn't need to know French.

We might as well add to the mix that PSG is virulently anti-gay and permits all sorts of activities at its games that would be considered gay-bashing in the U.S.

We might as well add to the mix that PSG is virulently anti-gay and permits all sorts of activities at its games that would be considered gay-bashing in the U.S. With all the respect due, these kind of statements are a little bit delicate... The PSG as such, does not allow anything nor do they encourage misplaced behaviours. A few fan clubs are considered being of neo nazi/fascist inspiration, they represent 2 maybe 3000 fans in a stadium that fits 60000. These people are against anything and primarily against themselves, they are beyond the control of anyone, even the police. Never the laws against violent and discriminative behaviours in football stadiums have been so strong in France than now and still there are a dozen incidents every year, but they happen even in England where the laws are the most strict in the entire world. Now blaming the club for it or generalize to the entire fan community of the club is not doing anyone justice...
