I had posted this information on TA am adding here for those traveling with us "seniors" ;D
Musee Marmottan-Claude Monet is a wonderful musee filled with lots of Monets but other Impressionist painting from his personal collection.
You also get a Senior discount, I saw the sign, asked if it was just for residents only . "No, madame" 60 and older. Showed her my passport, I think it cost me 6€ which was a 1€ less that regular price They also have a great gift shop, items are reasonably priced, small but lots of good things. I got a a poster of my favorite Monet for 5€. The Seine at Giverny (which is also at musee)

The Marmottan is where I got a book of Paris walks related to the Impressionist painters. Some were to see locales in famous paintings, others were to favorite haunts (e.g., Taverne Henri IV), others were to places where -- if only the building still existed, LOL -- a particular person would have lived! Actually, it was a fun book and an interesting way to organize some walks (and we got to some areas we otherwise might not have). Here's the Amazon link for the book (and there do seem to be discounted copies available through third party sellers): www.amazon.com/Impressionists-Paris-Walking-Artists-Studios/dp/0964126222/ref=sr_1_1/104-8623535-2774328?ie=U TF8&s=books&qid=1184103226&sr=1-1 It's a nice read, plus does have some very enjoyable walks.

Thanks for the information. This is on my list for next trip to Paris. Did not make it there last summer; however, the l'Orangerie was open so enjoyed that tremendously! Love Monet!!

Becky I wish I had seen that book. PBS did a series on the Impressionists. Starts off with Monet going to Paris for the first time. I taped it. It is available at my local library but don't know if available to buy.

What I love about this museum is that there is no one there. After the Louvre, its a nice change. There's also a great playgroung right there which was awesome for the kids to play at after the museum. Grandparents got in cheap, kids were free and everyone was happy!
