So things I learned, some I was told. 1. it's open late. sorry don't have exact times but I think it 10pm in summer. 2. is on Museum Pass, so I took full advantage and went to museum during day and to top of Arc at night. (sunset) 3. If you are climbing there are 284 steps. 4. If you use the elevator there is about 30 steps you still have to climb. Elevator does not go to top just to museum floor. 5. the railing stops about 3 feet from floor (of top). this is important going up or down for persons unsteady on feet, using cane, etc. So an able bodied person should try to be in front of them to help. Myself I have to have a railing to hold onto for steps/stairs. a couple got in front of me descending and the gentlemen said "I'll be able to cushion you if you fall". 6. the top is terraced, different levels, so watch your step (this is the part I was told, and luckily someone did) the highest level is the easiest way to access the actual view. but be very aware of this as several people replied to post on TA saying they wished that someone had told them about the levels on top. 7. there is a railing/barrier that comes to about chest level around parapet. 8.The view is worth it and no long line like the Tower. 9. there are telescopes but I don't know if they were free or coin operated. I had never gone to top but after reading there was an elevator the Arc went almost to top of list. Orangerie is #1.

Hi Penny. My husband almost didn't make it up those 30 odd steps and don't forget they are in a fairly tight space and curved, too. And those different levels at the top especially if there are large groups of students sunbathing around the top edge it can be a difficult route to circle. But the views are worth it all.
