We're starting to nail down plans for a Nov/Dec Paris trip, and are probably going to rent an apartment for the first time. My first thought was Truffaut's place, but I see his dates there overlap our time frame . And we may be taking our daughter along, so Luc's place probably is too small
So my next idea is to look into places on Ile Saint Louis (I know Becky is a fan!). It just seems like a good, central location for walking to many places, especially the Marais and Latin Quarter, neither of which we have spent a lot of time in (and we wouldn't be good 'Murricans if we didn't, non?) The Ile sounds like a quiet area at night, nearby conveniences, perfect location, etc. Are there any down sides we should be aware of?
Several of the apartments I'm looking at list nearby metro stations (Sully & St. Paul) but don't mention Pont Marie and it is closer than St. Paul--anyone have an idea why it's not listed? Could it be closed for remodeling or something? I have checked the RATP site, and don't see any indication there. Maybe St. Paul is just a more well known metro location? Or maybe because Pont Marie is on the same line as Sully, so they're just naming the next closest stop for a different line? (that's probably it, huh?)
If anyone has stayed in an apartment on the Ile, I would appreciate recommendations! I've read lots of praise for Guest Apartment Services and their units. Any others? Do you think staying on the island is worth the higher rent? Any other thoughts?
FYI, we've previously stayed on the border of the 7th/15th, in the 15th, the 1st, and several times in the 17th.
