Ok members, I am doing a little research for visit no.2!! (I am booking at lunchtime!!!) I am hoping someone can recommend a hotel in either the 3rd/4th or 5th/6th that would not be more than 95 Euros per night.
I am doing some research on apartments but I want to give my friend some options to choose from. My first stay was in an apartment in the Marais on Rue Aubriot and I loved the area, but I am interested in the other side of the river as well.
Any ideas?

Willow, here are my suggestions: www.hoteldelesperance.fr/index.htm?lang=enwww.avenue-paris-hotel.com/index.htmThese two budget hotels are both highly recommendable, IMO, as you get more than your money’s worth. I stayed in Hotel de l’Esperance (at the lower end of Rue Mouffetard, an area you are sure to adore, and believe it it or not: not very touristy at all, even if it is in the 5th arr.) in July 2006 and in Grand Hotel de l’Avenue in October 2006. Hotel de l’Esperance is spotlessly clean and very neat and nice. They claim to have a “garden”, which is a huge exaggeration: it is a 15 m2 internal courtyard. But the hotel has an icecube-machine next to the elevators, so you can take icecubes to your room and make cold drinks. The Mouffetard market street is extremely charming and full of mouthwatering food. Best medal-prized bakery in Paris “Boulanger du Monge” on the opposite side of the street. Geordy has also stayed in this hotel. Hotel de L’Avenue is maybe a little more worn down, but still very clean and super practical location a stone’s throw from Place de la Republique. Ask for a room in the 4th / top floor. Located only a few hundred meters away from the romantic Canal St.Martin and just at the northern end of the very “Parisian” and popular 11th arr. with tons of great eateries, e.g. Auberge Pyrenées-Cévennes, where they will serve you the yummiest confit d’oie (goose) of your life – plus potatoes fried in goosefat...... Otherwise I suggest you search in TA for budget hotels. I find the user reviews to be highly reliable. www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g187147-zfp1-Paris_Ile_de_France-Hotels.htmlHotel de la Porte Dorée is neighbour to Bois de Vincennes. Maybe a bit out of the way, but you have the metro right outside your door and the reviews are constantly very, very good - plus you will have a truly Parisian neighbourhood around you: www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d472021-Reviews-Hotel_de_la_Porte_Doree-Paris_Ile_de_France.html(the owner is English) www.paris-hotels-paris.com/
