I'd never seen that site before and it does have lots of goodies.
We've stayed at Domaine des Hauts-de Loire twice. In fact the last room in the more photos section ( blue and white paper and beams) was the first room we had.
I'm going to check out the Dordogne section for fall trip.

For touring Normandie and all the site that have to do with Dday (my hubby's obsession) we stayed at the Chateau de Goville, compare to others on the lists is look more like a maison de maitre than a "real" chateau but nevertheless the atmosphere and the decor in each rooms is really raffined in a old France way. Here is a link www.chateaugoville.com/

Jody - I don't have personal experience with many of the ones in the Dordogne, but I have stayed at Chateau des Reynats and don't recommend it (however, have stayed at Chateau le Mas de Montet and do recommend it). Also have stayed at Chateau de la Treyne, which does not seem to be on here, and also recommend that. (I have reviews of all of them on TA, if any of these otherwise are of interest to you.)
What a great site - thanks for posting it!!

The nice thing about this website is that they don't only offer chateaux (which can happen to be bad hotels too, as Becky mentions it), but they also offer the cities' best hotels (although non-castles ones) . At least I know this for sure as far as Strasbourg, Metz and Reims are concerned ...

Gitte - I can't see what advantage there is in having a bed that measures 220 cm. ....... unless you're planning to have a menage a trois.

Gitte - I apologize for not getting the joke, but even 220 CENTIMETERS is very wide, considering the fact that a king-size mattress measures 203 cm.

Hey, watch it with the knock on Tauruses! I didn't get it either but, well, SO?? (My excuse is that we aren't on the metric system here, so it's all just numbers to me!)

Thanks for siding with me, Becky. O.K.......how many of you actually noticed that Gitte's original post said 220 m. and not 220 cm.?

I think that NO ONE noticed it . Yet the shame fell on you, poor Chouchou ...

Gitte, as an Scorpion I'm ashamed to say that I didn't catch your joke either. And I can't even say it was because I don't know the metric system. I think we really don't pay attention to what we are reading, or we just see what we want to see. Please, don't hang yourself yet, I promise to read more carefully next time!!
