So yes, awake to a better day!
Tentative at PD.and sans meat anyway.....
Best weather day yet..not freezing and no precip!
Walk across Seine, Merto to FDR and stroll;; up Champs Eysees...
Heading to Frederic Simonin for lunch...will be reviewed in restaurant thread.
After dej wander Ternes area a bit..stayed around there a couple of times and like it.
Then head back to the Cluny Musee for the Roman Games exhibition. The way the musee is set up we kind of had to wander thru most of Musee, up and down, to get to exhibition. Baths area has been nicely "renovated" or whatever and the exhibition was nice and informative...was satisfied to hear the origin of Tric trac after displaying tables at the auction house!
We were not looking for much in the way of dinner after the long lunch so just kind of wandered St Michel and SG area with stops for vin, some smoked salmon, a tuna baguette, and a lot of observing!
Saturday... another nice weather day!
Walk up Rue Monge....no market at Pl Monge! Why I said not buying at local Marker last Sat was a mistake! Meant to pick up something from a terroir vendor! ) And the para pharmacy was such a zoo that I just hit a regular pharm later
Since the day was nice...headed to Lux Gardens...spent some time...
Then headed back to Isle St Louis...did the main drag...window shopping and some shopping and the lunch at Chaumiere...one of my favs...cassoulet and vin rouge. Madame works so hard behind bar, and the mecs and young lady seving. Nice, cozy atmosphere.
Stop at cafe with fab view of right bank and Notre Dame for noisettes. Head back to hotel to settle bill as we are leaving ridiculously early.wake up setfor 5 AM and taxi 5:45 Still working on room so head out for a beer at Cafe de Sorbonne.
Diner at last "P" place Perraudin on St Jacques. Another been there forever red checkered table clothed place. Arrived a bit after 8 since we were not exactly sleeping that night and wanted to eat early.! I had not had lamb yet so got sliced leg of lamb avec thym au jus Delicious and a lot Potatoes dauphinois served in it's own cassoulette , OMG
when the lamb first arrived I was, oh this is soooo good , but then the potatoes... ::)OMG
Only ate about half....waiter concerned...place run by two young guys gliding about in tunics and a young woman. I explained we were eating early and not that much because of early exit from Paris He conveyed this to the other guy in English..they have to go home and go right to bed...the other guy didn't seem to see the problem ;D, so he further explained it in French...the 5Am wake up, early flight...now the entire restaurant is giving us sympathetic looks and gestures...
We split profiteroles...fab...and take our last cold walk home..
