I fear I didn’t do much that’s worthy of a written report but I always like to pay back the people who have contributed to a good trip to Paris. So, while the text will be light, I’ve added photos to fill the gaps. I had 2 trips to Paris this time around: September 7 to 10 and then again September 24 to 27. The weather was very warm early in the month and while cooler later on, it was very pleasant walking weather. This trip I was lucky enough to meet many OPFers at both the Vendange and courtesy of Denise’s organising, dinner at a Jazz Club. Roniece and I do not live very far from each other here in Australia but it was Paris where we first met in person. That’s the wonder of the internet for you. ;D

Nice shots Mez..esp for those of us in the PPD mode! I want more....food, hotels, etc.! And I exalt your notion of "paying back" on the site that began it all!

Ask and ye shall receive Geordy, LOL. Food photos are now posted. As for hotels, I chose to stay near the train stations where i would be departing Paris from. I stayed at the Hotel Gare du Nord ( gare-nord-hotel.com/ ) and the Hotel Terminus Lyon ( www.hotelterminuslyon.com/ ). I was happy with both hotels in terms of location and room size. Both hotels have lifts and are air-conditioned. My room at the Gare du Nord hotel was very large, which was a surprise. I have done reviews on TA for both and have included photos there. See tinyurl.com/hotelgaredunord-review and tinyurl.com/hotelterminuslyon-review

Thanks so much for posting all those lovely pics, Mez. It seems like ages since I was in Paris, and I have no idea when my next trip will be, so looking at photos really puts a smile on my face as I start my day.

>>"This photo is dedicated to the OPF cycling contingent. If you’re ever feeling overly energetic while in Paris, why not head out of town? Not quite sure what you do once you hit the coastline, though".<<
as one of the cycling contingent, I can ell you you get on the boat and go to England!
Thanks for the photos Mez, nice memories.
Love Denise

Lovely report Mez. I think it's great that we have variety - some are mostly pictures, some are very reflective, some give detailed accounts.
Thanks for taking the time to post.
PS Trying to get up the nerve to try Velib. Denise is my inspiration.

Nice report and lovely photos. I like food that looks real and not completely over the top artistically.

[c enter][/center]Now that is what I'm talking about Mez! Where did you have the burger...general area will do! You had to leave a key CARD at the desk????I've never had that happen...big ole keys yes.... I remember on some of my first trips, being on my own a few nights and practicing saying my room number in French over and over walking back from dinner because some times the night desk people didn't understand English.or my French pronunciation!

Love the pictures! Sometimes it's nice to just slow it down and take it easy during a vacation ~ sounds like that's exactly what you needed this time. The fish dish looks delish, as do all the desserts, lol. I loved Promenade Plantee too and I need to make that vendage one of these days! Thanks for sharing, jo

Geordy, the burger was at the jazz club whose name I can't recall right now.
And yes, at *both* hotels I had to leave my room entry cards every time I left. Not having stayed at hotels my last few visits, I wasn't sure if this was the norm. Perhaps it's something they just do at hotels located near train stations? It was a pain at times especially when I was just going out for 5/10mins to go to the post office or other.
Janet, good luck with the velib. I've ridden a bike in London but have not tried them in Paris yet. Is there a park or cycleway where you can try them first? Oh, I know...the ground level part of the Promenade Plantee has a dedicated cycleway.
Jo, the fish is from Terminus Nord Brasserie. Service was lovely and the food was really good. In fact, many of my evening meals I had at local restaurants. Even though places near train stations don't always get great reviews, I was happy with all my meals.
