Hey out there ! Has anyone been on Christmas travels or vacation ? Then how about posting some of you master shots for us to see !? And if we could persuade master randy to give us a few tips on the basis of some of the pics, well......all the wiser we will become and all the better our next Paris shots will be ! I the poor taxburdened Dane could only afford a Christmas walk in the local park! I even tried my hand at a b/w shot of branches reflected in a puddle: I was surprised to find that I can set the colours on my little lowpriced Canon. I chose Manual Setting, then My Colors. I can choose "off", "neutral", "vivid", "sepia" (brownish), "b/w" and there is even a Custom color function, where I can set sharpness, brightness and saturation as I please. So I really recommend that you do some "surfing" around in your camera menu to try out the options. I just play with it and take a series of the same subject with all different kind of settings. That's "learning by doing" - and I am a bonafide dinosaur when it comes to understanding the technicalities, really.

Gitte - For a "dinosaur", I'd say that you've been doing a very good job. Denmark seems to have has some very picturesque scenery. Now if only there were someone nice we could visit there...... ;D

You're sure getting good at this photography stuff, Gitte! I love the black and white one--and your local park is enchanting! We were in Mammoth over the weekend, and had lots of snow which would have made for some great photos, but I didn't take any!

What nice photos! Now I'm inspired to venture out and take some photos. The daughters both got digital cameras from Santa. Perhaps we'll take an afternoon walk around the neighborhood to try our hand at some photography. My youngest (5) liked your photo of the building with the bench the best. She asked me when we could go there for a "field trip."

Gitte - As I told you, the bench photo was awsoooooomeeee and how about your great tree shot, excellent exposure and composition. What discoveries you are making. And using a little Canon. It will be hard for people to say that they can't take great pictures because it is just a small camera. It goes back to Ansel Adams statement, "If you can't see it, you can't photograph it". Your photos show that it is the eye of the person behind the camera. ;D

I forgot to ask, how many popos can fit on that cute little bench in your first photo? Chouchou, answer is : it depends on the size of the popos, of course .

Gitte, Your pictures are beautiful. It does go to show that if we read some if the instructions or at least look at the camera before we point and shoot we can get some very nice things out of it. And thats not a slam on you. WHATEVER you do turns out well. Susan

Gitte - I missed this post (ok, when I was in Paris!)...anyway, these photos are fantastic. I seriously think that you should consider selling them...perhaps the Danish Chamber of Commerce or Denmark tourist board would be interested? That way you could use the proceeds to finance your trips to Paris!!!

You know, if you can get to a place where you are creating something rather than just documenting or recording something, the rest is pretty easy. As I used to tell my photography students at Stanford, "photography is an attitude, once you develop it you will never see the world again in the same way again and you can never go back"
There was a book written 40 years ago called: DON'T PUSH THE RIVER, IT FLOWS BY ITSELF. When you can get to that place, photography is a joy you can celebrate anywhere you go.
