Wow - You guys make traveling seem so complicated by schlepping all that equipment with you. My problem is that I tend to pack more clothes than I really need. It's bad enough that I have to pack extra layers in case it's cooler than I expected, but I also pack double the amount of shirts, only because it's hard for me to decide which colors I'll feel like wearing in Paris. I know.............that's crazy.

Shoesy, if we all told the truth everyone would admit to packing way more than they need, because they want to have choices!
My favorite overpacking story was when we were in Paris over Christmas one year. We woke up the first morning and my husband was pulling things out of his suitcase, and started chuckling, and finally was just holding his sides laughing because he had packed in several different stages and apparently each time he forgot that he already had packed enough socks -- so he ended up with something like 25 pairs of socks for a ten day trip! (And we were staying in a flat that had a clothes washer!)

Oh Becky...that's very funny. At least it was the MAN who overpacked. Usually it's the men laughing at us for overpacking. And, I admit, I tend to as well. Drives me nuts, and I can't seem to break myself of the habit. And the reason is the same as Shoesy's. How on earth do you know what you'll feel like wearing next Tuesday???
At any rate, some of you will remember this from a former board, but when I was in London a million years ago, I plugged in my curling iron using an adapter. I didn't use the converter because I didn't know what it was. It worked without it, so I just heated up the thing and started with my bangs. My girlfriend called me Mamie Eisenhower for the rest of the trip. My bangs were burned up almost to the hairline.
Moral of the story: You CAN use an appliance without the converter but it will get MUCH hotter than usual. It is probably not even safe, but ignorance is bliss...

Last night I told DD all the info I got here, and she decided that she will take her curling iron instead. Which, that is dual voltage, so at least that is easy and we already have it.
I am pretty good at packing light. We managed a 3 week trip to Europe in the winter with just a carry on for each of us. Hotel laundry was the best thing ever for that trip, lol! I tend to take more clothes and skip all the gadgets. Taking a cell phone this time though. Mostly so I can text DH and let him know we are ok.
Becky--That is hilarious! My DH doesn't even try to pack by himself...even for business trips he asks me to pack for him, lol! My SIL let her DD pack herself once. My niece was maybe 6 and packed no underwear, lol!
Happy--That sounds like something I would do.
