mntgrl, I took our 3 teens to Paris last Dec. That's the key - let them choose what they're interested in. That way they're so much easier to deal with Seriously, it does make the trip that much nicer... That's the great thing about Paris - there's SO much to see and do that I can't imagine anyone being bored...and especially not Gitte!!!!

Sistereurope--I defintiely agree...if they have some say it sure does help! But she is a bit miffed...she really wants to take her racquet and play. Which means I would have to bring one too. We are only doing carryon, so this doesn't work. She is not happy about not playing tennis for 2 weeks, but I think she will live ;D

mtngrl - you were probably not born then, but we the oldies cheered for Björn Borg in the 80'ties. When he finally lost at Wimbledon - after 5 victories in a row - I stopped watching tennis.

He WAS!!! Probably still IS !! GitteK...once again your list includes things I have done or plan to do! About the Marie Curie thing..I tried once in a lovely rain storm and it was cllosed!! Got drenched but had a lovely lunch looking at the Lux Gardens from an enclosed terrasse! Then was just walking by it on the next trip when staying in the area. Tour was in French..not a problem for you or my S/O...but I being a trite more challenged had wisely brought a clipping from a Paris Notes newsletter featuring the place. The guide was very pleased to receive it and since we were a small group, gave me asides in Anglais very often! Well worth a visit! Though it was Sept. and hotter than Hell in the place.!! Was all I could do to make it to Pl. Contrescrape for a COLD drink afterwards!! Don't remember whether it was Wine or Beer but it was needed, cold, and good!

If you like tennis at all, visit the Tenniseum. Our DD plays on the varsity team at her high school, so this is a must for us. We arranged for a behind the scenes tour of the Roland Garros facility where the French Open is. She is bummed we are missing the event itself, but this will have to do. Mtngrl--Tell me about this museum, I haven't heard of it. My 16 y/o daughter also plays on her high school varsity team (tho this next year is iffy--she had a snowboarding accident in January and broke her elbow. 2 titanium plates, some wire, 13 screws and LOTS of physical therapy later, she's pretty well mended, but her game isn't coming back as quickly as she had hoped). She wants us to take her to France & Italy for her graduation gift next year, so that museum sounds like a good thing to explore. And how did you line up the tour at the tennis facility? I assume that's out at Bercy--the place with the grass growing up the walls outside? My husband watched Agassi play there a few years back.

Gitte, This use of incredibly long lists must be a Danish custom. Husband does it as well. I am more spontaneous and like to have impromtu moments. But am really looking forward to your trip reports. Bon Chance.

Gitte--I remember him, lol! I am 41 so not a complete youngster. Although I do look like it...I have a baby face, lol! Annette--I found this place while searching high and low for places for her to place tennis. AKA a wild goose chase. Anyway, the website is www.fft.fr/site-tenniseum . Each day they have one English behind the scenes tour which starts at 11am and lasts an hour. You can do a package guided tour plus admission to the Tenniseum for 15 euro per adult and 10 for under age 18. You do have to email to reserve a spot. The facility is across the river from the Eiffel Tower, near the Porte d'Auteuil metro stop. I am not sure if that is the Bercy area or not. I sure hope your DD gets better! What an accident!

holger - I thnk it is more a matter of temperament and individual personality. Many of my colleagues shake their heads at my way of travelling.

Gitte - My question to you now is this: You have your beautiful, long, well thought - out list, but you know that some of the items will not get done this time, right? Well....... how will you decide which things to do on this trip and which ones to do next year?

Shoesy, never mind next year. By my calculation Gittek's list takes us up to 2012!!!
Gittek, I have infringed your copyright (!) and cut and pasted several items to our to do list(s).
Enjoy your trip, not long now ;D
Best wishes

thanks ian !
Shoesy - it is not a matter of decision - I just follow my whims and desires for one day at a time. It's holiday, you know !! I regard my list as on big yummy menu card, where I have hundreds of delicatessen to choose from - to me it is not an "itinerary" or what you call it.
The To-Do name should not be taken too seriously.

Ah! Menu card is a wonderful description. It seems so much less structured and thus more appealing than a to-do list. Eat well!
