Surprise…rainy!!! It is Jours des Patrimonies but we’ve got shopping to do and waiting in line in the rain to see yet another ornate bldg. is not on my agenda this trip..though we have enjoyed this event in the past! PD at Fontaines de Sully, pain au chocolat(out of croissants!)cafes crèmes and OJ..al fresco as side terrasse is covered…. Walk across river and thru Lux Gardens and up to Montparnasse Mall. Find store..they don’t have a bleu ring…deciding if I want for ring or middle finger..as the actual ring is made of silicone they are sized small med and large..also don’t have white in med so go for smalls! Get red and white then I spy the bracelets by the other company..slightly different style..the silver setting and diamond is detachable..get in blue..and a black interchangeable bracelet thrown in! Will consider looking for bleu ring next trip if I love them and wear often! www.duepunti.fr They also have bracelet but store did not have. Still raining as we exit Mall so duck in café for lite lunch/bite….pate sandwich and cotes de rhone. Mother and adult son next to us…he ordered burger..proceeds to use knife and fork to cut off huge chunk to shove in mouth..this is better table manners than picking it up? Like the sandwich it is? Metro to Madeleine area..want to get Provencal liqueur , almond and melon, at big wine store there Lavinia? In store I am nearly upended by tantrum throwing toddler who barrels into my ankles. Mother says, “Pardon Madame, Je suis desole” picks up kid and hauls it out of store. In NYC Mom would be reasoning with kid and not apologizing..begging screaming child to apologize..Hello it’s a toddler!..and the whole store would be subject to the rest of the tantrum! Make rounds of Department Stores, Opera area on way home..also stopping for more pharmacy, monoprix, vin,pastry(religeouses..mocha and chocolat!) etc shopping. Had made res..as it is Sat nite in the big city!..at Chez Flottes..wanted variety, not too fancy and Concorde area view at night. Metro there as it is pouring! Busy but shown to nice window table upstairs in kind of a small library/bar room..cozy..looking at rain from inside! Good nite for Onion soup and haven’t had in a while so start with that..really a meal though so did not attempt to finish! Next Sausages and aligote..very cheesy and good..again could not finish but realized had I been home I would have taken half of it home(which is exactly what I did a couple weeks before at a Belgian place in NYC where I had Bangers and Stumpt) Champagne and Vin Rouge. Good service and a satisfying meal. Not raining (!) so walk back to Hotel….enjoy the views!

Glad you managed to walk back to your hotel after getting outside that little lot. i think I would have been hollering for a cab. Sounds as though you are having a great time and please keep writing about it. Just think about the enjoyment that you are giving to us poor souls stuck in North America. Even the girl across the road from us is just back from Paris and we have 6 months to go before we fly out.
Glad you found your ring and now Stella wants one.

Store is Diamantissimo..the one in Montparnasse Mall..its near Galeries Lafayette...has the rings... I'm thinking after Easter for our next jaunt........though V-Day there is lovely..the last twp times the weather has really been bad and the always fear of getting snowed out on either end! Plus the Olympics...God it is 6 months!!

Wake up SUnday to a strange golden orb in the sky...Sunny!
Head to PD in the sun at Café de Moderne...OJ, Café Cremes, tartines, croissants. Then walk across Bastille to Rue Rocquette..find Alain Ducasse Chocolat factory/shop and another chocolat shop read about..both closed due to Sun but future reference! Walk thru LONG Bastille mkt....bought two "wonder bread scarves" for 5 E apiece....had seen variations in different materials and prices in many store windows(one is the wonder bread colors sort of, the other more muted!
Then to Rue Rosier , Falafel lines ridiculous!..plus tables set up selling fruit , some in little boxes, and some sort of stalks, in prep for Succoth(sp?) Stop at Finkle________bakery for figue strudel to take back to NYC, and then stop for fromages also for home. Nice to be in Marais and able to shop....stop back at hotel to drop off.
The graze for Brunch/lunch....salmon quiche and salads with rose at Les 2 Palaces café on Isle de Cite(one of Aimee's places!). Really good quiche..loads of salmon. Lines across street and every where for J de P visits! Head to tip of Isle to see Templars Plaque read about.....go down stairs to walk thru little parc to very tip...no plaque but loads of people enjoying day with picnics, some dangling legs over river(future reference)including one couple with bottle of champ, baguette and oyster platter! Walk back towards steps..plaque is on wall in middle of staircases.....
More wandering then stop for 2nd course...poulet sandwich and biere of month at Le Cooperative Café, again in sun but weather changing again.. More shopping..Maison Larnicol for Kugen Ahman and chocolats by the gram, went into St Paul St Louis church..had been site of construction last few trips.. got emotional..last day..stuff at home, so back to hotel rather than kir at Bastille café...contacts shmeary! Pack, sipping Champagne....
Need lamb..have not had..heading toward little Place with a few restaurants, spied lamb on at least one carte, but pass place that looks nice and lamb..shank..on carte, decide to go for it because place is back of Le Tartine!..never realized it had a big back room and varied carte..had only ever sat out front and had drinks and /or tartines! Order shank wiith "Legume spaghetti" and bottle of St. Nicholas. Two "working girls" at bar with big dog(Boxer) chatting with waitress and bartender..one with electronic cigarette!
Shanks arrive..like caveman shank! Long strands of zucchini, leeks, carrots, draped over it(hence spaghetti)...very pretty! But unlike most shanks I've had, braised or otherwise cooked in sauce with meat falling off bone..this is not..served with big steak knives! And sitting up in bowl, with sauce and roasted potatoes, very hard to cut due to shape..Boxer very interested! Too bad he and his lady left soon after...left quite a bit of meat on my bone and it nearly flew across room a couple of times!! But it and the "spaghetti" were tasty! Also had not had crème brulee.... so did.....excellent!
Last late nite stroll in Pl des Vosges and gazing at Bastille column.....

Glad you finally had a sunny day. Too bad it was your last day. Tell me......how many meals a day do you eat when you're in Paris??? LOL....usually 3...maybe snack....ice cream, pastry..sometimes only 2 meals if too full or on ballet/theatre day This was grazing on last day.....and we split the poulet sandwich......the quiche would have been first course if we were having a menu somewhere!

That shank sounds like it's made more for the likes of Henry VIII. :-)
I envy you your ability to take food back home. Our quarantine rules are so restrictive that most items are a no-no.

Ahh Geordy. So sorry that it was your last day because now, I will be bereft of trip reports as funny as yours have been for some time now.I sympathize with your lamb shank dilemma as I have only had them braised and tender and never served with a steak knife.Have a safe trip home and I hope we see you on here soon.
