What a day to get ill! And the weather sounds perfectly dreadful.
Still, glad you managed to get out and do a couple of things. I agree that trying a glass of bubbles is never a bad idea. :-)

Oy! So sorry you got sick that day. What a downer! And I can't imagine going out in that freezing horrible weather. Curious to know what kind of outer garments you wore. Do you have a good pair of boots? Glad the ballet performance was enjoyable. You're so fortunate to have seen so many in Paris, and I'm sure there will be many more for you in the years to come.

I'm glad you got to the ballet, but what a bummer about getting sick from the carpet cleaning smells! It's bad enough getting a cold or worse on vacation, but this was totally preventable!

Shoes were a big consideration when planning. Wound up wearing a pair of black leather high ankle boots with a low thick heel and taking a pair of black ballerina flats and a pair of ankle ,I think ,"Bear Claw" all weather boots..black suede and pile lined...very warm and comfy and wore most often! Flats got worn to Notre Dame mass, but went back and changed ino the boots before lunch, and a couple of dry nights! A Black leather swing coat(only coat, other than my Parka..which I was NOT going to wear the whole time in Paris!..that I am willing to put in an overhead and have someone push their huge "carry on" on top of!) with one of two wraps, one merino wool long scarf..could wrap around a few times, and one big wool shawl type wrap. Cashmere sweaters and wool slacks, or layers involving a little zip front jacket over either a uniqlo heat tech top or winter silks turtleneck! Yes it was a bummer being sick on that day, esp as the trip was planned around it ..but it was the whole trip not the day that counted..I can see that now..... And it was a a great mix of gourmet and cafe, old and new bistros, exhibitions, Rin Tin Tin and Notre Dame ,and just being! Being cold and wet yes...but in Paris!

And Annette....not even carpet cleaner...these are wood floors!!!! last year I think they were still clenaing them by hand..not as many rooms renovated with them , but whatever they use in that machine.....Yikes!!
