Hi all, Sorry I have been MIA for a while, but I am hoping to frequent the OPF more often as in August I will be moving...to Amsterdam! Yes, I will be a mere 3 hours and 19 minute train ride to Paris! ;D So the real reason for the thread: a friend and I are planning to spend a long holiday weekend (17-20 May) in Paris for my birthday. We are having a very difficult time finding an apartment that: -has short stays of 3 nights -has separate sleeping areas (or at least separate beds) -is under 160 euros a night I have scoured this forum and contacted many places through homeaway, homelidays and vrbo as well as sending out a few shots in the dark (Eric at Paris Best Lodge was lovely, but they were totally booked), but I haven't had any luck. We'd prefer to be in the closer arrondissements simply because time is short, but worst comes to worst we'd hike in on the Metro. Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated! I really value your feedback. Rachel

Rachel, lucky you. try Vacation in Paris you may have to email them and ask which apts are available for those dates or else go thru a whole list of them. Try Annette or Truff or Luc's apt websites . They ma maake a concession for you. 3 hours and 19 minutes if someone does not commit suicide on the tracks as happened to us last time almost 6 hours!!

If you have no joy with the tried and trusted ones mentioned by Jody you could try Lodgis.com which seem to have a number that fit the bill. I've used tham a few times but it's worth reading the "how to reserve" blurb as the booking process has seemed a little long-winded and bureaucratic. Also check the section about the security deposit. Good luck.

Hi, perfectlyparis.com has several 1 bedroom apartments that have sofa beds along with the bedroom for separate sleeping. They range from 110-150 euros per night. Gail is wonderful and on the web you can easily check which rent for three nights and each apartment has a calendar so you can check the dates. We have used her apartments as have friends and friends of friends.
Good luck.

Hi Rachel, nice to see you. I stayed in this apartment in January with my freind. Loved it! Plenty of room and I slept on the sofa bed in the lounge whch was really comfy and the great thing is the bedroom and the lounge have door to the hallway, so one person does not disturb the other when visiting the loo in the middle of the night or getting up early. www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p848402?cid=E_hrownerinquiry_DB_O_20110828_propID_link_LPROP_1#utm_source=O_DB&utm_campaign=E_hrownerinquiry_DB_O_20110828_propID_link_LPROP_1&utm_medium=email&utm_content=propID_link_LPROP&utm_term=I know it is at Louis Blanc, just near the canal st Martin , but that is a very trendy area with lots of bars and cafe around. The metro line 7 is two minutes walk away and will take you to line one , Opera or the left bank in 5-10 minutes or even Chinatown in the 14th. Family run and newly renovated, I am sure he would rent for 3 nights. The other landlord I am using now is Olivier Scellier. He owns and manages 12 flats and I can vouch for his honesty, and management of the apartments. Unfortunately some of his properties are getting booked up fast! I am staying in one of his studios at the moment. www.vrbo.com/my/151220Please mention my name if you make an enquiry. Denise Love from paris Hope you get booked soon

That's a lovely apartment, Denise. I will keep it on the ever-growing list. I am actually going over to the dark side on my next trip and heading to a hotel!

Rachel--great to see you around again and planning another Paris trip!! Wish I could help you with a place to stay as Jody suggested, but we're almost completely booked for May & June, and unfortunately our management company doesn't allow short stays. The places suggested above look fun tho! I'm sure you'll find something that will be perfect for you and your friend. How fun to be moving to Amsterdam! You are a lucky girl!

Hooray! ;D ;D ;D Thank you everyone! I have just booked and sent in my deposit for the Louis Blanc apartment. Jean-Pascal said he was happy to receive friends of Denise. @jody, and Holger; thank you! You mentioned all my favorite trusted and true places I was hoping for, but found them all booked. @trocaderjoe, thank you for your suggestion. I'm just not good with long-winded bureaucracy... denise, you're a star! I've bookmarked the other apartments again for future reference! @annette, I was hoping to be able to splurge a bit with your fabulous place, but I understand why the agency wouldn't want too many complicated short stays. Congratulations on such a success for your rental! mez, loved your last trip report and looking forward to the next!

Great news Rachel. I am sure you will enjoy it. I loved the situation, just near the canal St Martin. Lots of shops and cafes around I just found a receipt in my case from my favourite cafe called POM on the corner of the next block down.
I tried to post a review, but there was a fault with the website. One tip, take some earplugs. Jean-Pacal did provide some in the bathroom cabinet...he thinks of everything, even plasters!
Although it is not noisy, there is a Police station next door and a fire station nearby so occasionally you hear sirens..... good in case there is a fire and the police make you feel safe. Lots of good looking young men around too!
Denise love from Paris.

Thanks again everyone for all the goodwill. It will be a great birthday weekend, I'm sure! And after I read Denise's comment about the attractive young men to my colleague, she said, "Well....enjoy your museums, I'll be cafe-hopping in the 10th!"
