I have no experience with VIP apts but I'm considering this one. Does anyone have knowledge of VIP or the location of this apt? I know the rue Montorgueil area and like it but I don't know this street. Do you see any negatives about the apt that I'm missing? Thanks. www.vacationinparis.com/apts/id_79.htm

If you don't take it I will! Looks lovely and the neighborhood is really nice. Also VIP is so easy to deal with

I have looked at this apartment on line, before as I also like the area. I am familiar with rue Marie Stuart, off rue Montorguiel, I love this area and have stayed several times.
VIP have a good reputation and are geared to the American market,so you cannot go wrong with them.
I like the art deco style bucket chairs. Has elevator. All you need. ( TWO hairdryers?? what is THAT all about?)
From my point of view the only drawback would be that it faces the street. I prefer courtyard as it tends to be quieter, but it would not be a deal breaker.

I rented from VIP once. They were great. It's so convenient to get the key in advance and it's nice to be able to pay via credit credit in US$. Air France went on strike and they found options for me if my return flight was cancelled. I didn't end up needing it, but they were responsive.
One drawback to VIP is that they don't seem to discount So a 10 day stay is the nightly rate x 10.
The apartment looks great. I really like to stay in apartments the owners use themselves - they tend to feel homier. They don't mention whether the windows are double-paned. It's on a pedestrian-only street so that may not be an issue.
Looks good!

I stayed in VIP#179 with my daughter in May. It's in the same building as #79, which was my first choice, but it was already rented. We loved the area and our little studio. We were literally 15 seconds from rue Montorgeuil and the famous Stroerer bakery. I would love to rent #79 at some point since I really enjoyed both the immediate area and the easy access to other parts of Paris. VIP was really easy to deal with and it was nice to have the key before we left. I also liked not having an extravagent security deposit to pay, just the $150 key deposit which you get back once you send your key back.
I would grab it in a second!!

We stayed in this apartment last year. The apartment is very nice. I loved the area. There is some noise late at night from a nightclub down stairs. If you are in the bedroom which faces the courtyard you cannot really hear it. I probably would not have noticed the noise if I had not gotten up to pee in the middle of the night. I think it would be a problem for someone sleeping in the living room. We always sleep with, and travel with one of those white noise machines.
This apartment is literally steps from Rue Montorguiel. If you like that area you will love this place.
The bed is commfy the furnishings are nice. The only improvement would be a walkin shower rather the the rather awkward tub shower combo. Funny, as we get older we like those less and less.
I know some folks don't like Chatelet Les Halles Metro station. We are so used to it now that it is not a problem anymore. We are not out and about late at night so we have not had much experience with the rowdy teens who hang out there late at night. The apartment is a few blocks north of there.
I've rented several times from VIP. This was my favorite one so far. I tried to get it again for our next trip but it was not availabe. I remember walking in and saying to my husband, "this is it. I'm never going back."

I've used VIP twice and had a good experience both times. On one trip I stayed in #16, which is on Rue Montmartre - quite close to this apartment.
I really enjoyed the area and I think it's a great place for apartment renters due to the proximity of food markets and restaurants if you choose not to cook but want to eat locally.

Better hurry. It is not available for Oct 5-11 or Nov 5-11
I made the mistake with my dates and first asked for the October dates!
Pretty sure I'm going to book the same apt we had last year as it's available. But I'm keeping the one I hope you get on file

Darn, that's too bad Darcy. This new apartment looks nice--I haven't studied it for details tho (other than admiring the gorgeous ceilings! )

Darcy, I really like #70! If I wanted to stay in Montmartre, I'd give it serious consideration.

70 looks really nice. I love Mont Martre but my feet and legs just get too tired for all the hills there. VIP has a large studio that we stayed in twice on Rue Mandar called the Louvre Loft. It is a studio but it does have lots of room and is well equipped. It is a on the other side of Rue Montorguiel just off of Rue Mont Martre. This apartment is not as nice as #79 but we liked the location and it met all of our needs.

Well, I just looked at the VIP site and I can't see the Louvre Loft apartment. Maybe they don't have it anymore or maybe I'm going blind. There is another apartment in the the area called Historic. It looks nice but does not have a washer.

Yes, when I told my legs about the Montmartre apt, they said I should think again! However this apt is near the ave Rachel entrance to the Montmartre Cemetery and it's not yet hilly there so maybe it won't be too bad. I've never stayed in Montmartre, I know the Laidbacks have on several trips, I think, and they seemed to work their way around the hills.
Still thinking about it.

BettyAnn ( Darcy) Have you looked at this one? www.parisbestlodge.com/rivoli.htmlIt's right down the street from the apt we rented last year and are renting again this year, so you know the location. If my garden apt wasn't available I was going to check this one out. Looks really nice and so convenient. The main reason I rented the same one again was I love dealing with VIP. But a lot of posters just love Thierry

This is the one we are renting for a week in October. Thierry is a joy to work with and his places are always very clean and well equipped. This one has gotten very good reviews from posters on TA and we just love this location.

Darcy, I think both VIP 70 and the one Jody mentioned look good.
I think you're right that the VIP one wouldn't be hilly, since it's close to Place de Clichy. The metro stop there has 2 lines (2 and 13), and I think it's convenient to have the closest metro stop with connections to more than one line. There's also lots of bus routes that run through Place de Clichy.
The Paris Bestlodge apartment looks great too. I really like the fact that it's quiet, which is tough to find.
Happy planning!

Jody, that's a great apt! It would be perfect for a couple or for one person but since Mel and I are "just good friends" ;D, it won't work for us. I will definitely save the info for a future solo trip.
We're looking at Sept 10 - 24 because we want to be there for the Patrimoine (I can never spell that!) weekend.
