Thanks for these last 2 restaurant recommendations! ...but I've HAD IT with my maps! I'm going to have to break down and order the l'Indespensible--I'm tired of finding so many things are just off the edge of my maps

Annette, that's a frustration for me too. I use the Let's Go series. I've used them forever. But so many things are just off the edge of it. Grrrrr...

Le Saint Amour is located at 2, avenue Gambetta, just on the edge of Père Lachaise. The phone is 01 47 97 20 15. I wouldn't make a special trip, but if you're in the area, it's a good choice. The decor is hopelessly outdated and rather unattractive, but food offers solid traditional choices from the Auvergne.

We had a similar drink with white wine and hazlenut liquor at L'Estaminet, only they called it a "pelou". It was yummy and we wanted more! But when we were somewhere else and my husband tried to order a pelou, the bartender looked at him like he had 3 heads.

Sistereurope - we recently opened a bottle of champagne that was disappointing (rather thin flavor) so I added some Frangelico to it to make it more drinkable - perhaps we accidentally invented a "Pelou royal"?

And rather clever of you Becky! Rather than waste the bottle or "force " it down!

Gitte - I like the idea of a big lunch. I have just started to plan (not strictly) what we can do each day we are there to make the most of our time. Given we arrive on a saturday night we are going to spend Sunday wandering around our neighbourhood and getting orientated (and some food shopping of course). Monday is a bit up in the air, but Tuesday will be a trip to Versaille then Wed, Thurs & Friday seeing all the spots on my to-do list.
Any suggestions for Monday would be appreciated.
Can't wait - only 5 weeks and 2 days to go!

Generally speaking, our main meal of the day in Israel is in the early afternoon. I really prefer to eat a big meal at that time of the day, but it never works for us when we're travelling. We're much too busy sightseeing to want to give up precious time to sit in a restaurant. Of course everyone needs to take breaks, so a short relaxing light meal is always a better option for us, and then in the evening we're always in the mood to have a big dinner.

grunblack, I'm not sure where you're staying, but the outdoor market on blvd Raspail is a wonderful way to get sensory overload on Sunday. Looking at and smelling all the beautiful vegetables, spices, meats, etc., you will immediately know you're "not in Kansas any more".
Also, the beautiful organic soaps they sell there make nice, inexpensive gifts.
