FMT - I've been trying to comment on this for a couple of days, but it's very hard to type while feeding/burping a baby. Anyway, now that both my hands are finally free, I'd like to reiterate the fact that your photos are priceless, as is your fabulous sense of humor, which has kept me smiling ever since I read your report. Your narrative is always a delight to read. (Are you sure you only majored in geography?) I, too, would like to know what "thingy" Jody was referring to , but thank goodness it was not yours, FMT ! ;D

Thank you Shoesy. I think Mrs. FMT was happy I didn't put a photo of my "thingy" in the report as well. Between my "thingy" and my sheep stories I think I'm going to start developing a bad reputation.

Thank you for another fabulous trip report! The photos of your stone work are beautiful, you are definitely a man of many talents.
And yes, you must keep your thingy away from sheep!

Darcy - I assure you the sheep have nothing to fear from my thingy. It's the people of Semur and German tourists they need to watch out for.

Katharine, I hope against all hope that your move to Egypt will come AFTER things settle down there. The general call has already gone out for non-essential personnel to leave the country, and the list of countries recalling their diplomats is starting to grow.

Katherine, I join Sunshine in hoping your trip to Egypt is long in coming. Mu cousin is communications director for American University Cairo. She is based in NYC fortunately. They have started bringing home the American students. She says all she has been doing for a week is fielding calls from frightened parents and arranging transport

Thanks for all your well wishes, guys. I will be heading over late summer, maybe August 1, so I would certainly hope things will be settled by then. Anyway, in for a penny, in for a pound. I am not one to worry too much, but I am wondering if FMT has changed his mind about Christmas in Cairo. Now, how do I break the news to my mother? ?

If things have settled down by Christmas time then there will be no need to cancel any trip. For the good of the people of Egypt and your future career I hope things will settle down and that a properly functioning and responsible government will be in place in the not too distant future. Good luck to you and to Egypt.
