Not at all sure how I missed your post but as usual, I love the picutres and the commentary. You are really amazing to me. Such stamina!
You had talked to me about Louveciennes anad Bougival, and I really enjoyed seeing these places through your eyes. I could not agree more that Saint Germain en Laye and Rueil Malmaison are both very worthy of day or half-day trips. The Sunday market in Saint Germain is really a treat.
Please give Mrs. FMT a big hug and kiss for me. You guys are in my thoughts often.

Jody - I just checked the France magazine website but they don't post articles from the magazine on-line. Obviously they want you to pay for it rather than read it for free. I suppose that makes pretty good sense from a business perspective. As much as I would love to read the article I don't want to put you to the trouble and cost of mailing it to me. Besides, I'm a big believer in making up my own bike routes. If someone else has done it already that takes half the fun out of it for me. Just out of curiosity, I know the bike trip ended at the Mont but what was the starting point? Was it biking from Paris to the Mont?
Katharine - You didn't miss the post at all. I just put it up a couple of days ago. When the weather gets warm again I'm going to spend more time exploring these suburbs. There was still a lot I didn't see on this trip and they are lovely places to ride a bike so I'll look forward to going back. Perhaps you and Maryann would like to come over and join me? I miss having visitors so I would certainly welcome some good company. I have just hugged and kissed Mrs. FMT for you and she sends her regards to you, as do I. I know you are going through a tough spell right now and I hope you doing OK. You are in our thoughts as well.
FMT

Don't ask too often, fmt. I really might take you up on it as an "I need to get the hell out of Dodge" trip. I swore of France after this summer, but the comfort of it and good friends might just be what the dotor ordered!
Any plans fr your holidays?

Thanks for the reply FMT. I think that my daughter would love Provins...she wants to major in medieval history in college, so I think it's a must. But we may also take another day trip...perhaps to Strasbourg to see a certain OP'er?!

katharine - The only plans I have for the holiday are to rehabilitate my mouth. I've still got elastics holding my mouth shut tight and I'm on a liquid diet. If I'm lucky I'll get the wires taken out of my gums next week, along with the elastics. Then I've got the dental work to do and as well as appts. for physical therapy 3 times a week. So basically my main activity for the next 2-3 months is to learn how to use my mouth again. Yay, such fun!
sister - If your daughter wants to major in medieval history in college then I can think of few other day trips from Paris as worthy as Provins to whet her appetite. I think she'll love it, and so will you.

FMT, enjoyed the pictures (as usual!) but all I can think about is ouch, your poor mouth!

Thanks AnnetteC - Most of the ouch is gone. As a matter of fact I have the opposite problem right now, and that is that I have no feeling in my teeth. If you've ever had an arm, a hand or a foot fall asleep then imagine that feeling in your mouth. I try to just forget about it though because after having spent a few days in the hospital and seeing some really serious injuries I consider myself lucky. It doesn't make it any more fun to have the injury I'm stuck with but it certainly does put things into perspective. Although I've still got a ways to go before I'm over this I'm told I should make a complete recovery in a few months. Until then I'm just preparing myself to do the dental work and physical therapy I need and also to be patient. What I'm most looking forward to right now is just getting the elastics off my teeth (so I can open my mouth) and the wires out of my gums so I can get off this liquid diet and eat some solid food. I'm very jealous right now of those of you who can chew. Thanks again everyone for the support!

Let me add my commiserations on your accident, sounds very nasty indeed. And to happen at the best time of the year for eating just adds insult to injury, as the saying goes.
Hope the recovery goes to plan and is complete.

I just wanted to add 'thank you' for this report & the gorgeous photos. I've spent time in other French cities, but when in Paris I've always stayed put , this time however, I will be in Paris for 4 weeks & your report has given me some good ideas for day trips. Ardea

ardea - Thank you for reading. The great thing about this forum is that there is such a wealth of information to assist anyone visiting Paris, or seeking to do day trips outside the city. I've written several other trip reports that are here on the forum and if you just search my name you'll find them. Many of them are about places that you can reach from Paris as day trips. Feel free to ask me questions if you have any. I'm happy to answer.
