We were set to enjoy our upcoming trip and looking forward to a Montmartre stay. Got an email from Gail that Caulaincourt Charm's elevator would be "en panne" until November so I phoned her to let her know that this old couple from San Francisco cannot handle 6 flights of stairs everytime we want to go out. Although I'm sorry to lose out on that apartment, Gail worked all day to find us an alternative one - from one of her friends, Michele of Home Rental Connections. Perfectly Paris (I couldn't recommend them enough) asked the owner of CC to direct our 50% deposit to the new rental and since our other 50% was still pending at PayPal, she asked PayPal to return it back. Everything went so smoothly. Now, we will be in the 17th - The Batignoles area - in a garden apartmnet called Mariotte Garden on rue Mariotte - not too far from the marche biologique and a stone throw from the Mairie of the 17th. We got all the arrangements done in a couple of days - everything arranged and paid for (well, the bank wire transfer takes about a week to reach them - don't ask me why) but I guess these transactions vary. Here is the new place which I'm sure we will enjoy just as much. We can always go to Caulaincourt Charm at another trip when the elevator will be fixed and running. www.parisrentalconnections.com/properties/property.php?section_id=Apartments&id=64&code=16PARIS - we'll be there in a little less than 3 weeks! I can't believe it is almost here! Gail Boisclair really saved this trip for us. GAIL IS PERFECT!!! I was ready to think of booking a hotel as 3-1/2 weeks is just too short to be looking for an apartment, don't you think? Looking forward to seeing the big list of people going to the October GTG and the Parc sortie with Peter....... Lilia

Your new apartment looks nice, Lilia! I remember seeing it when looking for a rental a few years ago. How lucky you are that you were warned about the broken elevator and that Gail was able to arrange another place for you. Sounds like she saved the day!

Annette,
Gail surely did! I will definitely visit her when we're in Paris to thank her personally.
I also have Dr. Dubois and her staff at Hopital Cochin to visit. I want them to see the improvement in me, healthwise.

I'm so happy that your story has a happy ending, Lilia. This is truly a testament to good customer service and I know that I will remember this story the next time I'm looking for an apartment.
The new apartment looks really nice as well.
Can't wait to meet you soon.

framboiseetrose--
When Doug and Gary's apartment exploded last April just a week or so before we were to arrive there, their "concierge" Preston worked with Home Rental Connections in London to get us a replacement apartment. We stayed in their Garden Haven unit for four weeks, upstairs (four flights, no elevator) from your apartment. The one you will be staying in is probably the one that was being renovated/repaired from water damage while we were there.
If Shelly is still their contact person, you will find her extremely helpful, very available by phone, and a genuinely nice person to boot. The area is wonderful, three blocks from the Rome metro and a nice walk from the Rue Levis market street.
We really enjoyed neighborhood restaurants, especially Aubergine (dinner only) just 2 blocks away and Rapaille (just around the corner) both on Rue des Dames. There are many others in the area. Be sure to walk up to Square des Batignolles and stroll through the park.
You are a somewhat longer walk from Parc Monceau, but it is only 2 metro stops away--although we typically walked. If you have not visited that Parc be sure to do so. It is one of the nicest ones around, and there are museums right on its periphery and classy residences as well.
Oh, I wish we were back there now!!

That's a really great-looking apt., Lilia ! Very pleasant decor. I agree that Gail did a marvelous job, and since I couldn't exalt her, I exalted you instead. ;D

SDtraveller - thanks for the heads up on Shelley! We're really happy with our replacement apartment. We know we will walk to Parc Monceau. Walking does not bother us unlike the 6 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS. That was the playground where our youngest had when she went to Ecole Active Bilingue - Monceau so it will be a nice reminder of our good old days. But we haven't ventured very much beyond that part of the 8th/17th. Quite busy with 2 children and activities of the American Women's Group and the American Catholic Womens Group of Paris. Shoesy - Thank you! I will surely visit Gail and tell her I got an exalt at OPF that was meant for her. Jo - won't be long! Jody - you know that I've wanted to meet you too for such a long time, either we are there before you or after you've left. This is the year!!!

Framboisie: you have been very fortunate with the other apartment. Actually our mutual friend G.J. was once very close to booking this one, remember ? Only Madeleine, or what's her name, from Paris Perfect finally yielded and came up with something more appropriate for Madame !
When you go to see Dr Dubois, make sure you look out for that pretty little brunette nurse, who was so sweet to you - and to Roniece & me.

Gitte - and I won't forget to take with me a big box of chocolats. So many of their staff were so kind to me - I got big bisous from most of them before I left.........
Now, you'd have to travel a little bit to see the new place. One day, I'll still make it to rue Caulaincourt...........

Wow...with all the horror stories one hears about other apartment agencies, what a breath of fresh air Perfectly Paris is, and Gail in particular. I usually use VIP, but occasionally they don't have an apt in the area I'm interested in staying. I'll def remember this for future reference.
I hope you have a happy, healthy, sunshiny trip, Lilia!

Has anyone stayed in this apartment?
It looks like a beautiful (and large) apartment in a great location. And it certainly seems as if the agency is well regarded. All that's missing is a first hand account.

steveb, I booked this apartment on recommendation from one of our members, Laidback. They stayed there for about a month, I think. All of Gail's apartments are nice and clean and she is a darling to deal with. We seldom stay in apartments as most of the time, we stay or apartment sit for our Parisian friends. Once in a while, our schedules don't fit and that is the time we do the apartment thing. The location of Caulaincourt Charm is perfect - tree lined street and lots of places to eat and shop. Good luck! -Lilia
