Hi everyone,
In the spring of 2009, Sandy M invited me to lunch with Denise and Megan, and we went to Les Petits Carreaux, at 17 rue Petits Carreaux at the top of rue Montorgueil. We all enjoyed our meal, and because of that, when a friend visiting from San Francisco wanted to have lunch on rue Montorgueil on her last day in Paris, Bill and I lead her directly back to Les Petits Carreaux.
I just want to say that my husband and I, as people who live here and have tons of favorite restaurants in our neighborhood, were very impressed with the exceptionally friendly service and the great food. Plus the people watching was terrific from our sidewalk table.
Thanks, Sandy, Denise and Megan for introducing me to this really great lunch spot in Paris. We will be back.

It's nice to hear more good feedback on this place. It's been one of Truffaut's favorite lunch places, too.

Really Jody, put it on your list. It was a very pleasant lunch as the staff was exceptionally friendly, and as my friend Vera noticed, cute too

Den and I had lunch here last May and I liked it so much that it was my first stop with Danielle during our trip in May (it didn't hurt that our apartment was just off rue Montorgueil!). I plan to eat here at least once during our fall trip. Den and Danielle loved their Caesar salad and I had the planche campagnarde both time ~ lots of lovely Serrano ham, grilled Brie disks, roasted potatoes and salad ~ SO yummy! Hi Nancy,
Glad you enjoyed your lunch here - I really like it as the food is good, service good and love the location. We'll have to do it again sometime!

Don't know what's better at Petits Carreaux--the food or the eye candy!!

Sorry Jody, but here is another review of mini restos as per this weekends FT. It starts with Spring which seems to be a favourite of several. tinyurl.com/2vvorpu

Oh great now my list is 53! I added Rino
They have hyped Spring so much I've lost my desire to go there!

Peter, Tom was reading that article on Saturday and said that Spring is at the top of the list at FT (again). I reminded him that we already have a bouillon lunch reservations for September 30. I think I want to try Le Timbre as well. Trying to cut down on the restaurants as I want to try the open marches and cook some of our meals but we'll have to see! Looking forward to seeing everybody! -Lilia

Hi Lilia, we ate at Le Timbre a couple of years ago and it was terrific. We walked past in the afternoon and there was a guy out front scooping up dog poop in front of the restaurant. Turns out he was Christopher Wright, the owner and chef. He took our reservation without even writing it down.
This restaurant is beyond tiny. Apt, I suppose, given the name, but really...I couldn't even cross my legs under the table. You will definitely get to know your dining neighbors! I will say that the duck at Le Timbre was among the best I've ever eaten. I think you'll enjoy the food.

Thanks, Happy! We will definitely go - my daughter will be flying in from Stockholm to join us for a few days so we will bump knees with her.

I really like this restaurant that stands in the rue des petits carreaux which is actually just the continuity of the famous rue Montorgueil.
