I lived in Rouen, not exactly the country I know, but best for my circumstance at the time (near to both work and Paris). I enjoyed living there, as I am a city girl at heart, but of course, we enjoyed visiting the countryside, especially in summer - ALMOST made up for the dreary Norman winters!

I like Rouen. And Normandy isn't the only place in France that has dreary winters. I think that goes for most of northern France. The only thing I miss about winter in New England is that it is sunny quite often, despite the cold.

What a wonderful thread,, thanks for taking all the effort to post photos,, and you seem to have quite a head for remembering the historical details. I end up looking back on some of my photos and thinking " oh that was an old building we found on the day I had that great lunch in that little town.. etc etc." LOL

Hi Joan,
I must admit that the internet certainly can help to jog one's memory after a trip.

Okay, so I still have one more TR to do - basically my take on the fabulous day I spent doing a part of this day trip with FMT and his lovely wife. We did nt keep up the rigorous pace he did the first time he did the trip (which is reported herewith). Hmmm, maybe the 2 hour lunch in La Roche Guyon slowed us down.
I will get to it, but I will say that this is a lovely area, the Val d'Oise. FMT will take you around and show you as much or as little as you want. I love churches so, baby, we did churches! My report is coming post haste!

I'll be looking forward to the visitors impression of the region. I must add that exploring with fun and friendly people like Katharine and her friend Maryann makes an already enjoyable trip even better. I think we almost met a mayor but the church lady was just as good.
