We took Karen and Francois to Chez Josephine tonight for dinner (had a wonderful meal!!!) and Gerard Depardieu walked by our table and said hello (after Karen and Francois went a little crazy and said "Look who's here!!!!!"). I'm embarrased to admit that while he looked a bit familiar, I really didn't know who he was until I looked him up tonight online. Now I know where I've seen him before! LOL Anyway, that was kind of fun ;D I'll tell you about the meal when I get home.

Don't feel bad about not recognizing the guy, Annette. The purchase of your apt. is far more exciting than meeting a celebrity.

I really want to eat at Josephine's in the fall, I've heard so many good things about the place. Can't wait to hear your thoughts, Annette.

Chez Josephine's is wonderful Jo, you'll love it.
And Gerard Depardieu said HELLO to you Annette? Whaa, why didn't WE see him when WE were there, Happy? Ina Garten was lost on me, whereas I could have practiced my french with Gerard!!!!

That Gérard guy..... he really is cute. Not handsome, though. Ugly. But cute. That is my favorite episode in "Paris, je t'aime" - the one with Gérard D. and glorious, stunning Gena Rowlands. I adore her, she is just amazing - and sooo beautiful !

Mary, just modified - and posted a beautiful lady. Noooo, Gérard is not sexy !! George Clooney is sexy Gérard is just the man you'd like to cuddle up to during a snowstorm, sharing a bottle of vintage Calvados, crying your eyes out over Mister Fluffykins, who was your childhood kitty and your best buddy eeevar.......

Well, he is not pretty for sure! But in French we would said" Il a du chien" and legions of French women and men would agree with me.

jo, if you do want to eat at CD, make sure to call a few days ahead. Three or four days isn't a stretch. The last two trips, I called a day ahead and they were booked both times. And it was mid-week. A cliché, I know, but if you like beef bourgignon, do try theirs. It's just wonderful. Sis, if you will remember, we all had a bad case of jetlag and had had a number of drinks. A sorry way to meet famous men...handsome or not .

Thanks Happy. I've heard raves about the boeuf bourgignon but I saw pictures of both the duck confit with crispy, crispy skin and the cassoulet that had me salivating, so we may just have to go more than once! ;D I also hear the Grand Marnier souffle is to die for, so we may have to skip breakfast and lunch the day we want to eat there to be able to fit it all in. Ah Paris, so many great restaurants, so little time (and money!) JO

Forget about men for a second .........Yes, the Grand Marnier Soufflé is a dream, but also you must NOT miss the "other" best dessert at Chez Dumonet: the Paris-Toulouse It's a paraphrase over the classic "Paris-Brest", but on my question about the name, the answer from le chef-patron was: "Well, my dessert chef is from Toulouse......." Choux pastry, crème anglaise in the middle, then crème chantilly, then a row of perfect raspberries, and in the middle a shot of raspberry granité. Raspberry coulis swirls on the plate and crushed pistache.

Yes, that dessert is prettier than Monsieur Depardieu, that's for sure. I just would have rather seen him than Ina, as I had never seen her before (and only barely recognized her name). And I could have answered him in my newly acquired French...
But if you want to talk sexy, why not Johnny Depp? OH my, I'd give up that Paris-Toulouse in a heartbeat for a glimpse of Johnny D!!
PS Happy, the best time to meet famous men is after you've had a couple of drinks!
