Thanks, Anne. I think I'll try making my own Ras al Hanout. There's a recipe on Epicurious.com that gets rave reviews. I hope I'm not disappointed....I've been spoiled with the stuff I got in Paris!

The stuff we bought was at Epicerie Bruno, on Rue Tiquetonne (just down the street from G. Detou) I think they mix their own in the shop, because it all smells very fresh - I would be shocked to find they have standard industrial stuff.
I bought some ground chipotle that was awesome in a pot of chili when we had an ice storm on Wednesday, and some other spice mixes that I haven't tried yet.

Thanks for the name, Sunshine. I never would have remembered it. They have a website. I got all excited thinking I could order things to be shipped. The email link doesn't work. Oh, and btw, they list their ingredients in Herbs de Provence as Thyme, Rosemary, Basil and Savory. No lavender.

Label Rouge specifications say : Rosemary 26%, oregano 26%, savoury 26%, thyme 19%, basil 3% But I'm sure that you can survive without the oregano

I got the Maggi Coeur de bouillon champignons!
The first two makts we stopped in were more the "conveniwnce"..a Monop the first day abd then a Hiut de Huit so they didn't have them.
The next two FranPrix didn't either. Then the new..at least to me ...Monoprix on St. Michel did. But the Knorr commercial with some famous chef is running so all they had was chick left..I really wanted beef, but the Maggi had the veg and Champignons so I thought I'd try that! Haven't tried yet but I can think of a number of things that could use a woodsy boost!
