Hmmm ......... I feel so old all of a sudden....... . Me too Gitte....... The Doors passed me bye, although I think Jim Morrison was more popular in the US. When I googled him I discovered he died in 1971. So actually, Gitte you would have been a mere babe when he was popular. I'm afraid I missed the seventies in a haze of alcohol and nappies! More interested in the Beatles, Rolling stones, Elton John, ABBA, Satus Quo, Otis Reading and the Muppet show! Denise love from England

Jo and Geordy - While it's true that I went to school (in Yonkers, N.Y.) with Steve Tyler, he was never my friend. He was one of the bad kids (and was kicked out of high school), and I was a goody-goody. Actually, I didn't mention the coolest part of my story, which is that in 9th grade, this famous guy and I were voted "most talented". ;D ;D ;D

Shoesy, That is tres cool about you being voted most talented..you and that other guy! ;D Say, I was traveling near Rapid City, South Dakota when I heard Steve Tyler fell from the stage there this summer. I have heard the resulting pain has not been a good thing. ...but I know our dear Shoesy ...likely has never fallen off a stage...so who..I dare ask..is truly the most talented of the two! Anne, I think that is also cool about you hangin' wid your friends at Jim Morrison's former apartment! I understand that excitement! My first stay in Paris...I stayed at the Union Elysees hotel on the floor and perhaps right in the rooms where Proust used to live...I thought that was major cool! There is a lot of history in Paris...and it is fun to understand and appreciate these significant places of the past!

I am SO jealous of you all. Alas, I have yet to meet my rock and roll idols! Although my step brother's band DID open for Bon Jovi. What a cutie Jon Bon Jovi is (but I don't really like them, so it didn't impress me that much) I sure did love Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin though. Shoesy, that is cool...I'd love to see those yearbook pics! And Jo, I hear you. I'd want that picture too. And Anne, I can just imagine getting all shivery to see that apartment...especially that tub. I don't really remember the Doors as I was a bit young at the time, but I DID see that movie with Val Kilmer...

Mea culpa Jo...I realized my error almost immediately and deleted that part.....
There is a DJ here, Carol Miller on Q104 who does two daily 15 min or so segments..called "Get the Led out" where she tells a story from their "wild and crazy days" and plays a tune or two!
Unfortunately now I can't get Palmer's song out of my head!!!

Yes, Roses are red was one of his songs.
Billboard Magazine called Bobby Vinton "the all-time most successful love singer of the 'Rock-Era'". From 1962 through 1972, Vinton had more Billboard #1 hits than any other male vocalist, including Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. In recognition of his recording career, Bobby Vinton has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6916 Hollywood Blvd.
And the old goat is still at it!

and Bobby Vinton "I'm just a bird in the sky, and no one can take my freedom away...." I still remember singing along with that on the radio.

How about this? - I went to an Elvis concert in Des Moines many years ago and thanks to a policeman friend of mine, got to go right up front and shake hands with him!! I almost got one of his light blue scarves that he wore around his neck and tossed out to the crowd but a lady behind me jumped up and grabbed it!

I would be beside myself Anne and would have taken many photos of the bath, sat in the bath, called everyone I know from the bath and get them to guess where I was irrespective of the time differences between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, posted photos of the bath on my blog, Facebook and then emailed the photos to every contact in my book getting them to guess who the bath belonged too.
I love the celebrity connection game - the apartment that we stayed in for in dec 08/Jan 09 was owned by a French singer - Claude Nougaro before the current owners bought it but I had never heard of him so could not play the famous people connections game with him ! I have a great one to add now !
This is going to replace the - When I was in Customs I searched Ray Charles and in his bag had a number of Braille Playboys story !.

Did you sit in the tub? I'd have asked to sit in the tub. That is so amazing. Are they going to offer paid visits? Do they need extra guests at their diner table. Très cool, madame. Chapeaux
