The book by David Lebovitz-since it is about food I thought it ok to post here?
I was up til 2:00 am reading this amusing book by David Lebovitz. Besides his sweet recipes, he writes about the French, their customs, habits and sometimes odd ways. I wonder if posters living in Paris agree with his assessment of the people of the City of Light? At the end is a list of resources including Detou where I found my violet mustard (maille doesn't sell it).

I finished the book in a day and HIGHLY recommend it. There are many references, though, that even very frequent visitors won't fully understand. Certain aspects just can't be appreciated unless you've lived in Paris or at least have invested in property there. All in all, it's very funny and it has some yummy recipes, too.

Den and I both loved this book and were very lucky to go to one of his earliest book signings in May when the book first came out. Daveed is so sweet and funny, I wish I could be his friend!

I loved this book too, although I agree with Truffaut's assessment that you can't fully appreciate some of the references unless you live/move there. It was very funny in spots.
I recommended this book to the two girls whom I brought to Paris earlier this month. They were intrigued with the cultural differences and I thought this book would be interesting and fun, after visiting Paris.
